Please ladies,
Insure your STAMPS. regardless of what company they come from!!!! If you have a fire ( God forbid) the insurance company has no proof of what you had !!!!!!!

I don't drink (well at least not much). I don't do lunch (well at least not often). I'm not into jewelry ( except those diamond earings). I quit spending tons on makeup. So hey I chose to spend my time and money on stamps.
It's still cheaper than a shrink.

remember you guys - if you catalog your stamps on a piece of paper in a binder or even in your computer and you do have a fire or other disaster then those will probably be destroyed too. So make a back up CD or disk of important things you have on your computer and stick it in your safe deposit box! You could even take a little video of your house for insurance purposes and show those craft supplies on there too. That is in the safe deposit box as well.
I do not want to know my total after one year as a demo -and I am only up to 61 sets!! I was just thinking today as I reached in to get gold eyelets and had to dig through several other containers first - where in the world did I get all these eyelets!?? I have accumulated SO much this year! But I love every bit of it!!
I have decided to take the 5th on this one. If I don't, it will scare me!
I can't even imagine. Thank goodness, my DH, doesn't mind, and supports my habit, on my birthday, christmas etc. WHEW!
Boy, don't even want to know. I think ignorance is BLISS for this question!
Ladies, Ladies, Ladies, some of you are still thinking of stamps as a luxury and not a need....would we ever add up how much we have spent on our kids over the years....No---- I would not. Think how much we waste on fast food, shampoo, and BOTTLED WATER(should be sold with a stamp attached). And just think about how much money we have saved and TIME we have saved using our stamps for gifts and cards, etc. It is NOT about COST it is about the joy the stamps bring....they will go down in history as heirlooms---PRICELESS. That is my rationalization anyway...HA!
Well after reading all these posts, I do not feel as bad as I did when I wrote it! I actually feel like I should spend MORE! LOL LOL
I'll tell you what is better than therapy any day......getting on here and reading some of the things you ladies write. I laugh more at the computer when I read posts than I do a comedy club. I guess some things are just so funny cause it is sooo relate-able (word????) and some things you think but never see written or said! LOL

ps - I DO have my entire craft stuff insured because adding up EVERYTHING I have, it is well over $10,000.
I have insured my stamps as well as all my supplies with my homeowners policy. I update it every month so they know. I keep a copy with my lawyer in his vault. It's way better to be safe than sorry. This is my livelyhood as well as my passion.

I agree with "spamie". "Shhhh, I don't want to talk abou this topic".
I'm sure I have spent hundreds of dollars, but I won't tell my honey. If he finds out  I might be hitting the high road. Of course, I would have to pack all my stamps before I set a foot out the door.
I drive around town with a trunk full of boxes of stamps...do you know why????
BECAUSE THE STAMP ROOM IS CRAMMED full of STAMPS and CARDSTOCK!! The Media room is almost filled with stamps and cardstock, the kitchen even has some stamps and cardstock and for goodness sake, the kid's bathroom even has a few sets!!! YIKESS!! I will never tell how long I've been stamping, and yes, there have been a few sets lost, a few sets duplicated, but overall, I am shocked that I do know where things are! It's not quite as bad as it sounds, but it seems like I'm always working on a project and then running into the bathroom for shaving cream, or q-tips, or into the kitchen for waxed paper, or FUTURE floor wax...heheheh!!
I have so much fun with stamping!!! I started when I lost a baby years ago and it was probably some of the cheapest therapy around!!

All I know is that I have over 360 sets entered into an excel spread sheet. Average cost at least $20....and that doesn't include the drawers, boxes, racks filled with supplies and doo-dads, plus everything I've mailed out over the years. I'm scared to add it up over my 9 years of stamping.....I'm better off not knowing. We all are.
Robin,
Is this your idea of an April Fools' Day prank? Because I think it's kind of
mean! (Just kidding)
I'm with baronsmom.....la, la, la, la, la, la.........I can't hear you!
Seriously, I'm sure it would not be good for my blood pressure to know
how much I've spent. Since I started buying from SU last July or Aug.
I've accumulated 50 sets & I have 2 on their way to me. This is NOT counting the non-SU individual stamps I've also accumulated, or one
stinkin' sheet of cardstock, one roll of ribbon, or one eyelet or any of the
other "necessities"! Next to a lot of you wonderful ladies, I would still con-
sider myself a rookie.
I repeat, la, la, la, la, la.....I can't hear you! And this information would NOT be good for my blood pressure.

Robin,
Seriously, knowing the answer to your question would NOT be good for my
blood pressure! I'm convinced of that! Also, I'm with baronsmom..............

I don't have nearly that much, but this sebsite keeps me wanting more.
About insurance, find out what dollar value your policy covers. There is an amount for the dwelling itself and then a separate amount for contents.
We just had 8 inches of water in our basement and it was a real educational experience working with the insurance company. Some of my craft stuff was ruined. Your craft stuff is not important to them! Only to you. Catalogue what you have so that you are ready to justify the amount you claim in case of loss.

Between my stamps, my scrapbooks and all the fabric in "my corner" of the basement, it is most definitely the priciest corner of the house!
