I have finally given up the glue sticks, and now use mono adhesive almost exclusively. My problem is, I think I'm using too much. This weekend, I made 40 stamped sour cream twist containers to give to the trick or treaters. 1/4 of 8.5x11 cardstock. 2 long, 1 short side with mono. Used up one whole mono. Okay - that was a lot, but that's how it goes. Then I made 20 card swaps for Regionals, with 4 layers (largest layer being 3.5 x 2.5) and used another one up. I think I'm using too much. Maybe it's the "glue stick" side of me finding it necessary to use so much. How much it too much? How much do you use? ~Pam
I'm not sure if one is able to suggest a retailer that sells a different tape runner that is way cheaper...and for me works way better! Will someone please let me know...if so...I'll post another reply.
i don't know why you couldn't - everyone here sends people shopping every which way for the good deals... just my 2 cents... besides - I'd like to know!!!!

Okay here goes, Walmart sells a tape runner called 'Adhesivetech' which sells for $3.84 (runner and a ctge in it) and the refill cartriges sell 2 for $3.84. The glue is much stronger. It looks a lot like the old mono dispenser...and I find it doesn't get glue all over the dispenser, so makes it much easier to use. You also don't have the tape moving all over...just pull the runner and then lift up.
I use Mono and love it! I think it's a great deal when purchased through Viking for $1.88/refill. When I used glue sticks, I would put glue on the whole piece being glued down. With mono, I only use it around the edges and maybe a little strip in the middle if the area is big. HTH!
for cards, I usually put a 1/4" to 1/2" line of mono in each corner and the same in the middle. Unless there's something "bumpy" - like the back of an eyelet or a brad - in which case, I put more right around that.
sour cream containers are all together different since you need all the edges sealed close.
I'm with Pam. I love the mono, and just use it in the corners, or under heavy embellishments. It holds fine!
I even used it to attach the CS to my paint cans, and they are holding strong!! Alicia
I love mono, and also just use it in the corners and have never had a problem with something not sticking. This is silly but I cringe when someone is making a card and use full mono along all the edges
Hi Pam~ I just wanted to give you a suggestion. Every time I have made sour cream containers with mono adhesive- they come apart. Now I use the SU! sticky strip and they won't come apart! Its fabulous for all the punchout boxes too! I do love SU! mono adhesive for all my cards. Hope this helps!

Yes, I tell everyone at my workshops that they are playing with MY toys. When they are at home, they can use as much mono as they would like, but when using MINE they are only allowed to use a bit in each corner. I use tickets for the door prize and ask questions after each project. If I catch them using too much at a workshop it's an automatic ticket deduction! LOL!

I love mono and don't know what I would do without it. I also buy it at Walmart for my projects. It's like $9 for 4 rolls. I just use the SU mono for my shows. But I go through a cartridge a show, I have to get them using less!!

I used that stuff from Wal Mart ONCE!! I didn't like it at all. With mono refills only $1.88/each through Viking hard to beat that price for good adhesive!
I agree, I have tried the adhesive from Wal-Mart and did not care for it. I love mono and also go trough a lot of it, but at $1.88 each I don't think it's too bad!

That's funny because I have no problems like that with my mono, but when I use the adhesivetech, I do have those problems. There was so much glue on my dispenser I had to toss it, I couldnt get it off, and Almost every refill I used, broke. I know I was using it the same way I used mono, so I'm not sure what the deal was.

Here's what I tell the little "mono piggies" at my workshops. If you just use a few dabs of mono here and there instead of a whole line of the stuff, you can actually pick something up and reposition it if you get it on there crooked. That's true, but it also is a "nice" way to keep them from wasting all my mono. I'm quite thrifty with mine and I really cringe when I see them whip out a big strip of it.
Hi everyone! My first post here :?
I just checked out that Viking site for the mono and it was $2.36 for 12 or more. How do you get it for $1.88??
Please share! I go through it like mad and would love to get it for $1.88!!
TIA,
Crystal
Crystal, did you put in the codes that jody just posted above? There is always a code SOMEWHERE on here telling you the new codes for the $1.88 refills.
