I clean mine each time I stamp (unless I only used it to clean one or two stamps). If you don't, the ink that comes off your stamp will accumulate & transfer back onto the stamps you're trying to clean.
I rinse mine out after I finish stamping...otherwise my stamps just get dirty from the ink that's left behind...and it really makes a mess with my light colored ink pads. I've even bought an extra set of refills...so I use it when I'm using black and light colored ink.

Wash it pretty much every day. Sometimes I just stamp a little so I'll use part of one side, then turn it around next time and use the other half. But mostly I soap it up every time!
I wash mine daily. I take out the pads, put them under the sink with some dish detergent and hot water. Then, pat dry with a black dishcloth. Ready to go again!
