HUGE favor to ask for a military family! SCRAPBOOK
One of my friends hubands was killied in action this weekend. It is a guy from my huband's unit one of his good friends- really hits home when it is someone you know. :(
Here is the story: Two pilots from our unit were shot down by enemy fire on Memorial day (you probably saw it on the news) both were killed. My friends husband was a dad to two kids a boy 3 and a girl 7. Second guy a 22 year old new LT due to be married next month during his 2 week break from the war.
Anyway back to the favor I want to get each of her two kids a 6x6 "tribute" album of their dad. I am hoping that all you talented, generous ladies will help me get this thing together- I am working full time, and helping out the wife club with the meal planning, child care etc for her and thus lack the time to make them both myself. I would love if you could take some time and please make a 6x6 military themed page(s) (ex: my daddy the hero, me and my dad, my dad and his helicopter, journal pages with "memories" of dad anything, daddy fighting in Iraq) so that each child can have a memory book of their daddy! Ideally I would like to get 20 pages for each kiddo for a total of 40 and will would like to get them to them at the end of June when they get back from their extended trip home for the funeral so I need them to my house by June 25th so I can bust out and make any extra that I need to by the 30th.
If you are willing to make a page or more please PM me or post to this thread with how many pages and what pages you are willing to do. If you want to send a card, or a gift card to a resturant (if you want to do this PLEASE PM me we live in hawaii and there are VERY few "chains" here so you would need to make sure you pick one the island for them her kids love mcdonalds, and burger king safe choices) too I will happily pass that on with the album!

Thanks Momma! I haven't talked to him since the accident. I hope he is ok a friends hubby is taking it hard- he helped with the take off of the copter then 5 hours later was loading his friend in a bodybag into a blackhawk to leve for Kuwait :( Doesn't really hit home till it is someone you know it's been a hard few days :(
OMG...this is terrible!! My brother is also in Iraq and it just breaks my heart to hear these stories!! Please put me down for 2 double page layouts also (4 pages total), one for the girl and one for the boy!
Any are fine- I am not picky and I am sure they will love anything! Ideally probably Army colors (brown/green) or americana
Oh drats, Aubrey, I already made the pages and the girl's is blue background w/pink accents and the boy's is red background with blue/lime green accent. They are military-oriented (a nice poem about freedom printed on vellum), but I figured they were little kids and so the pages would need to be bright.
I can make some additional pages that fit in the americana/khaki/camo theme better, but do you want me to send them to you anyway?
I sent this on to a scrapbooking friend and she wants to make a 2-page layout for each child also! Her name is Stephanie and we will mail ours together. Just wanted to let you know, so you can keep count.

No worries thanks- The news paper covered the article today I just found out via the artile the day he died was the day after their 12 year anniversary :( The article was poorly written (not shocked being where I am) but I will scan it when I get home from work to share.

My mom came over last night and we each worked on some pages. When Stephanie finishes hers, we will be sending 12 total (6 boy pages and 6 girl pages). Please let me know if you end up needing more!

Yeah, newspapers are s to the upid in that way. Not to long back we had 3 soldiers from the Ft. Lewis Stryker until lose their lives and the paper wrote ...Bombs kill 3 in Stryker Unit. Fantastic, sensitive headline, huh?

is the "s to the upid" thing a military thing? my husband does it too!! he has been back from Iraq just over a year. we are very fortunate to have him back, and i feel so much for those families who didnt get them back. while we did have a few medical issues steming from iraq, its nothing compaired to many.
i will make several pages, not totally sure how many i can get done but at the very least one 2 page layout for each.
i would also like to help. my hubby was in the navy during the gulf war. i know i have stuff here military related as i am starting an album for him. i will get started on this tonight i will make a 2 page layout for both children. so 4 pages total.
