Default I am a bit sad about this trade!!

Hi everyone,

A while back I did a trade with a lady in the US for a set that I really wanted - I sent a package of craft goodies, as well as Australian souveniers and chocolate. She has received my packaged and emailed me with her excitement about it and said she would have my package in the mail soon. A couple of weeks went by and still nothing had arrived so I just sent her a nice email asking if she had posted it so I could guage an approximate arrival date as I have a really lazy mail man who just dumps packages on my doorstep if I am not home. Anyway, her response was that she had given it to her DH who had forgotten to post it on his way for some medical tests but that she would mail it out ASAP and she would let me know when she had done so. I have still not received anything. I know our lives get busy sometimes but surely when you make trades they become priority - I know they do with me - I hate to disappoint someone. Anyway, I sent her a PM a few days back and as yet have received no reply.
I guess I am just a bit sad at the moment because we are a one income family and I cannot afford to now go and buy them from someone else after paying almost $50 Aust. for the goodies and then another $23 to post it.
Thanks for reading - I just wanted to get this off my chest!

Hope you all have a lovely day

Karen

I really hope this ends up working out for you. It's a shame to have you lose so much.

Hi there,

I should also probably have mentioned that i have NEVER had a bad trade on this board before and probably deep down in my heart know that this wont be one either, but just an email or something to say - "hey I am having a few problems getting to the PO!" would do me fine - at least I would know what was going on. This lady I have traded with honestly seems like the lovliest of ladies and I truely hope that the package will eventually turn up.

Hugs
Karen

Hi Theresa,

It was Paint Prints that I traded for. But I am really not in a position financially to retrade for it after spending so much on the first trade.
Hope you eventually get your catty soon.

Hugs

Karen

I have a new/unused but mounted set that I'll send to you - how much do you think shipping would be?

I was so sorry to hear about this - you seem very understanding with her possible situation but it is very unfair. I try to get my swaps and trades out asap - I would hate to disappoint someone.

I hope this person reads your post and realizes how this has upset you and that you have to send things out right away when you trade something. Especially since she has received your package weeks ago. Good luck

Default Bit Sad about this Trade!!

Ladies:

I truly understand how everyone is sympathetic to this situation as I am. However, if so much time has gone by and there is no response to explain the situation, I feel that you should let the moderator for the Trade/Sell on Splitcoaststampers know this person's name to warn others.

This will, hopefully, prevent her from doing this again or at least thinkig twice before doing so. I am sorry, but this really burns me up! Just my thoughts.

I hope this person really had an extenuating circumstance to cause this effect.

I have to admit, I am leery of trading and selling on the forum because there is no way of guarding against bad trades. This is why I will only do eBay purchases with people who accept Paypal and who have good feedback. If I don't get the merchandise then I can call my credit card company and get a chargeback done.

I wonder if we could possibly start a feedback forum. Each person could have a thread and people could post as transactions were completed. Of course we could go thru the mods before or instead of leaving negative feedback. I would like to see how many transactions some people have done, it could help the decision whether to buy (or trade) from a person easier.

For the record, i have been 100% happy with all of my purchases

I have been 100% happy with all my trades so far. I am the kind of person that does things right away, like go to the post office to mail a trade the same day if possible because I would want my goodies mailed out fast too. Good luck with your trade I think it will work out.

I'm not sure the mods need any more work to do!!!!

That suggestion was brought up in the past. The only problem with it is that there is so much trading going on. There's no way to independently verify each claim.

Consuelo--not to beat a dead horse or anything, but what about what ebay does with the rating system-type thing. There are ALOT of bad stampers here. How do we filter the good from the bad and how would a newbie, or anyone else for that matter, know who they are?

I've had a couple of negative experiences trading through SCS and I'm now pretty leary.....with one trade, it took me almost 4 months to get my stamp set (mine went out immediately). It got delayed in posting......it got lost in the mail...had to be reordered....another trade, the person was prompt and I got my stuff.......but then that hostess set that I'd traded her for ended up in her eBay auction (I figured out by usernames)!!!! And it was current!!

**I will say I "know" a lot of people who trade regularly on SCS but will go by number of posts to judge whether or not they'll trade with them....the one girl said "someone with lots of posts is less likely to flake on the trades"...

Now I will only consider trading with people I "know" through here to be reliable ~ or I'll post it for trade in one of the Yahoo groups I belong to.

As for eBay, I've never had a problem when buying through there.....except you may not necessarily get a response to emails from certain sellers.

Hang in there though. I know it takes me almost 2-3 weeks to get mail from the US to where I live......so it could just be coming true "snail mail"! I hope it works out for you, and soon! Cheers!!

I have to say I have found very honest people to trade with. I had one person leary of me, but I think she was very pleased with my honesty. everywhere YOu go there are those who arn't honest. no one enjoys being scammed. we work hard for the things we have and don't want to be cheated. It would be nice if we had a area or even permenant area in the trade sell and buy that would list a bad trader with out the bashing. just a place to list a name. keeping bad feelings out.

just mho

I've had wonderful trades on this board both from people with a lot of posts to their credit and without. I am more cautious with those without, though. When I trade I always provide my eBay userid so people can check me out and see who they are dealing with. I also try to trade with names I'm more familiar with on this site. Try asking for references on trades or for ebay userids as a reference. If they happen to provide you with a phone number, Google it to see if it happens to show up. We are all trading with strangers and should not be afraid to ask for trade references.

You take a greater risk by trading/buying here instead of the Bay. I guess that's the risk we take for not having to pay fees for this service, although the Mods do try to help if you ask.

I have been trading on here for two years now, longer than I have been on ebay!! I have only had one trade take a long time (almost 2 months) and it was because the woman was in a terrible accident, so I did eventually get my stamps! I have had two deals on ebay go bad, even though I got to leave negative feedback, I still didn't receive my stamps (and both times I also lost my money on the deals because they hadn't accepted credit cards)!!! If you are leary, ask for more information from the trader, like their telephone number and address. I actually had one SCS newbie ask me for my phone number and we discussed the trade by telephone instead of pm's or emails! There are risks to everything you do, but I have had better luck here than on ebay! However, I would be very steamed if I traded/sold a rare set here and then it showed up on ebay shortly thereafter, like you Debbi!!

I've had some bad trading experiences, too (not here on SCS) -- so now I *only* trade for US$ via PayPal. That way, both parties are protected and there is recourse if something happens. Things do get lost or damaged in the mail, people are in accidents or fall ill -- there is so much we can't control, it just makes sense to me to do what I can! As for what your trader did with the Hostess set you sent -- it was hers to do with as she pleased. If she's a demo and keeps that up, she'll get the boot eventually. There are things that are worth worrying about, and things that aren't, IMHO. ;)

Happy trails....

Sue
