Question I can't believe I have to ask this...

I know I have been living under a rock when it comes to all the die cut machines out there- maybe if I don't know what they can do, I won't have to buy one:rolleyes: Here is my dilema. I am trying to make my DD's 1st birthday invitations. I had some open space left on the card and I put an unfinished chipboard #1 there. Well of course I think it would totally work if I prettied it up somehow, but where am I going to get 25 #1's??? Is this what the cuttlebug can do??? I don;t know if I really want to know the answer...it is just not in the budget. Can you die cut multiple numbers, say on a piece of paper? I am truly embarressed by asking this...I am so out of the loop but...please someone enlighten me. Then maybe I can find someone who has it that can do some #1's for me...You know you are a stamper when you go through all this for an invitation......

LOL, what's to be embarrassed about? Yes, a die cut machine can do that. Or, if you have an alphabet set with numbers, you can stamp and cut out 25 1's. If you don't have an alpha set, maybe check at Michaels or someplace for a foam stamp of a number 1. You could probably find a place that sells chipboard in singles and get them that way, and just pretty them up by adhering pretty paper.

Or, you could find someone with a die cutter and a "1" die to cut 25 of them for you.... But at least you've got a few options!

I tried to go look at your card but it's still "pending approval."

Thinking out of the box a bit....could you adhere a single birthday candle in that open space to signify "birthday" and "one" at the same time? Just a thought...

how the $1 stamp from M's of the cupcake with 1 candle in it . . .
or just tying a single candle to the card or . . .
free handing the number one and coloring it in or . . .
still thinking . . . will get back to you .

The candle is a good idea but what if it breaks in the mail. is there a place that sells die cuts online that I could order them from?

Could you maybe get them made at your local scrapbooking store? I did this when i needed some music notes that I did not have a stamp for....

Hi,
I live in Carmel and I know if you go to a local stamp/scrapbook store and buy the paper there they let you use the die cut machine for free (usually).
There is one in Goshen, and one in Pawling. I have the Sissix but no #1 die.
Hope this helps.
Maureen

Have you checked out the newest store by me in Stormville. It is called The Paper Rose. She just opened but has a really nice selection of different stuff!

Another candle suggestion - what if you took a striped paper (to resemble the striped birthday candles) and some tissue paper and made "candles" to put on the front? A strip of the striped paper, tissue paper crumpled to resemble a flame and it would be a great 3D element to the card - can't get broken in the mail either! It would be easier then cutting out a bunch of number 1's! Good luck with whatever choice you go with!

If you don't want to purchase a die-cut machine you can always print them from your computer using WordArt in either word or power point. That way you can use whatever font you want.

Suzanne,

When do you need them? If you don't need them for a couple weeks, I could cut some out of coasters for you this week-end and get them in the mail on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday). I have several Cuttlebug alphabets so you could choose which #1 you wanted and you can stamp on them or decorate them or if you wanted any of the SU paper colors I could cut them for you also.

PM me if I can help!

Nancy

Her birthday is April 4th. I can't believe she is already that old. I need to send out the invites by the end of the 1st week in March or so. I like to give people plenty of time to respond.

At least you have your Cuttlebug....maybe one day I will have one too:mrgreen:

Or...you could call up your LSS and ask them if they have that die for public use. My LSS lets you use their dies for free. Another store that I used to go to (before I moved to another city) rented time on theirs. That could be an easy option for getting more #1s without buying a machine.

Another option is your local elementary school. Most teacher work rooms have die cuts. If you don't have school aged schildren, maybe you have a friend that does. With all the "schools need to be more closely connected to the community" hoopla, I'm sure someone could let you cut a few ones--and it wouldn't cost you anything.
Good Luck

My oldest child in school is only 3, just a preschool. I need to find a die cut that is at least 2-2 1/2 inches tall. Maybe I can order them online....
