Am I ever excited! Sarah mentioned that she found out she was in the Autumn issue by buying a copy and looking through it (seewah).
My copy hasn't come yet, and I was flipping though a copy on the bookstand at lunch. I about passed out when I saw I got five cards in "shifting shades", page 107.
Thanks to everyone who gave me tips on how to get published. I've tried several times to get in Take Ten and this is the first time I made it in.
Hmmm, you might want to email or call to make sure you're getting your author's copy (or copies). I work for a magazine, and it's important for contributors to get their copies *before* the issues go on the newstand.
Wow, Nina!!! That is soooo incredible!! And to think that you had never even picked up a stamp until that first workshop where I demoed. You have wayyyyyy surpassed me in your creativity. Please don't go and look at the first projects we did. They are probably sooo simple compared to what you do now.
When you send in submissions, do you send in the actual cards, or just pics with instructions?? NOT that I will ever be that good, but I'm curious. I always thought the cards in the mags were done by the artists, but then I think I read somewhere that you don't ever send in the actual project, just the supply list with instructions.
Congrats - FIVE cards - how fabulous!!! I got one in too....nearly fell off my chair when I found out! It's so cool to get published - this was my first!

I think you were misinformed.
You need to check with each publication; each handles it differently.
Some prefer jpg submissions, with complete instructions.
Others, like all Stampintgon Publications, and Rubber Stamper, prefer you send in the physical item, with complete instructions. And, then, you wait to see if they will print it, sometimes 1-2 years (believe it or not, yes, I had a friend appear in this issue whose work was submitted to Take Ten 1 1/2 years ago), with Stampington and Rubber Stamper publications.

Isn't it weird; 1-2 years of waiting to publish a submission????? Personally, I think they miss out on featuring so many great creations because they're too concerned with color coordinated spreads, or theme restrictions on any given issue. But, that's JMHO. ;)
I got 2 in this issue, but didn't expect them to appear because they returned them to me with a rejection slip. I wouldn't have known I was in there if it weren't for a few sweet souls like Sarah Vrolyk and Mary Bieber who also appear in it, who spotted them and told me!
You really never know with some of them, especially Stampington and Rubber Stamper . . . they never inform you. :?
Congrats to ALL who appeared--and those that were told they wouldn't and then did! chuckle!

I've heard through the grapevine that I have three in there, and they also were returned to me. The other 2 I sent in the same package with these 3 are unaccounted for, hopefully another issue down the line somewhere!

I haven't looked closely at the darn thing yet; a comp copy did finally arrive. In the past, I've had to ask for it . . .
I sent in about a dozen, and only 2 appeared, and they wend back those 2 + another that didn't appear, all 3 with rejection notices.
The others? Who knows with them . . . Part of their problem at Stampington is that they have only ONE editor juggling 3 magazines!!! It's *way* too much for just one person to do that, and they need to dedicate one editor to each publication. The publisher should have the finances to do that, given that they don't compensate for the artwork they use and only dispense one comp copy to the artists, I should think? I'm just speculating of course . . . ;)
The last one, Mona Gettman, resigned after a few years and now they have a new gal. I'm sure Ms. Gettman was so burnt out it wasn't even funny . . .

Congratulations to everybody that had a card in the issue, and thanks (and bless you) to all the wonderful people who have encouraged me (and so many others). This is the most generous spirited nicest bunch of people any where.
(I don't recall meeting a stamper who was a real meanie, come to think of it...)
And since I found out standing in a bookstore, I sure want to express my appreciation to the nice lady (a total stranger) standing next to me - who was looking at cooking magazines at the time. She was monitoring the situtation to see if I needed CPR or something.
