I got a card from someone and it had magic mesh on it. I showed it to my husband and right as I was saying "This is magic mesh" he says "That's drywall tape!" He was amazed to see it on a card!
Ha ha had to share here because who else would care !!
I haven't been to HD in a long time, but drywall tape isn't something I would be looking for. Now that you ladies have mentioned that you buy it there, does it come in different colors? I'll have to go and check this out.

I use a stiff brush to pick up color from my SU classic pads and then go up and down on the tape to make it different colors. It works great and you can make it any of 48 colors.
Your DH is totaly Correct! Magic Mesh is Dry wall tape....just dyed. I don't know what they use to dye it. My friend called the Magic Mesh company a while back and they admited that it was drywall tape!
I use DRYWALL tape ALL the time! I've tried to run marker and ink pads over it but the ink just rubs off. Guess I'll have to try the other recomended techniques.
Check out my gallary to see some uses of drywall tape!
i'm such a dork when i went in my husband's tool box i said "hey you've got magic mesh!" not knowing what it was used for and he laughed at me. Being a stamp addict everyone in my household knows what magic mesh is! ha ha but i'm glad to see others also know about using drywall tape. just thought i'd share.

I think my husband's drywall tape is yellow. Is that the only color it comes in? It seems like it would be hard to color with a pad. But we did put up drywall a while ago. So maybe I need to go check out his tape again.
i've seen drywall tape in white, yellow and orange but i only buy the white because i can change the color to any i want by just sponging from the ink pad.
I've seen the yellow at Lowe's here in Michigan, only white at Walmart and Home Depot. HD also carries the paper type with the holes in it. It's really easy to color with a brayer and ink and has a peel off backing like a sticker. I haven't bought any yet but do have both styles from my husband supplies. I have a card made with it in my gallery, look for the lavender butterfly. When I compared prices - HD was the best for the mesh style. parisotremba, it's nice to finally get an answer on that subject.
Believe it or not, I bought bright yellow drywall tape at Home Depot.

We are in the middle of a swap using dry wall tape or magic mesh. I'll have to upload all the cards when I get them in. I'm sure there will be some great cards for inspiration.
dh is always amused at what i'll pick up while at a hardware store. the drywall tape hopped in the basket last week! he just gave me a funny look. but it is soooo much cheaper.
I just tried coloring the yellow drywall tape with my Ultramarine Stazon pad & it worked great! Now I have night of navy magic mesh for my father's day cards! Thanks for the tips everyone!
I've never thought of coloring it! I have a roll of the bright yellow and I use it to create textures by sponging or brayering over it and then removing it. I'll have to look for white next time I'm at the store.
