I am going away on a retreat with 4 of my hostesses towards the end of January. We will be leaving on a Friday evening, staying Saturday and returning Sunday afternoon. We decided that each one of us will make a project that we will all do - like a shoebox swap I guess. Each one though, will have to take up to 2 to 3 hours. I am absolutely stumped as to what to make. I really want to WOW them with a project and feel that as the SU Demonstrator I should have something awesome.
We used to go on this retreat and do scrapbooking but got scrapbooked out so this year we decided that we would do cards instead. We have been doing this retreat for about 4 or 5 years now. I know that one of the ladies is going to do the cards with the acetate where you sprinkle the glitter on the back, another lady is going to show us how to make those European cards where you sew beads on the cards and the images are like paper toile. I don't know what the other lady is going to do.
Can anyone help me with ideas? I would really appreciate it.
I would just take a look through the gallery here and pick something interesting to do. I guess I'm not really all that creative - I lift designs alot for my stuff.

If you have the top note die and will have access to a die cut machine, the small bags "sandwiched" between the 2 dies are adorable!!! (I just bought the small paper sacks from Michaels that are like 3 x 6 inches and you cut them down so the height works between the dies.)You can decorate the front in a V.day theme and it would look very cute. Easy project and they went over very well on my Christmas table! I actually filled them with decorated York mint patties but you could put anything inside of them
I have been really into decorating the white tin recipe boxes (Provo Craft). Mod podge on paper, ribbons, embellishments, paint top to match, and make some 4x6 recipe cards to go inside. I have been giving a lot of these as graduation and wedding presents. Have fun on your retreat!!!
Could you do a couple of different cards in the alloted time? I was just looking at a free standing pop up card by mjalbright (found under tutorials on SCS). So maybe a couple of more difficult cards might be appropiate?? I know that as a "student" I don't want to do a super difficult project, but a couple of easier ones that I can recreate at home. JMHO

I love the idea of a stationary box, or you could make a specialty box like I made for my cuttlebug folders, plates, nestablities, etc. Checkout my gallery to see. They take time to assemble but it would help if you had all the chipboard precut. I love using wall paper for covering it because of the washability, but I used DP on mine. I also love boxes with the magnetic flap lid to store miscellaneous treasures. You see them at Michael's and JoAnn's.
