I LOVE baby showers! I have not made any little gifts yet for a baby shower, haven't had the oportunity, but I would say that making notebooks with beaded pens are always nice, everyone can always use one of those and it is inexpensive. Beaded votive holders...
Wait, now are we talking game gifts/prizes or party favors?
Gifts/prize:
the notebooks with pen
post it note holders for the fridge or purse
magnets
beaded votive holders
desk ramp note holder
altered clipboard
stationary set with matching pen
I don't know about anyone else but I am not real thrilled about getting candles or body stuff as a prize and I think paper "stuff" is much more useful.
Party favors:
nugget holders
sour cream packets
organdy bags
HUM that is about all I can think of at the moment. If I think of any others I will let you know. I too am curious to see what everyone else comes up with!
I haven't done a baby shower either, but did do some little things for bridal showers. I think that it would be okay to so the same for a baby shower. I did things like sets of 4 coordinating cards, magnets, small note books and pens. Good luck....hope you get some good ideas from others.

(Usually prizes for a baby shower are meant to be given to the one having the baby anyway.)
What about one of those cool paint cans decorated and filled with either baby items or thank you cards or other stamped items.
Stamp a calendar with baby firsts ... decorate each month with a scrapbook type layout ... 1st month "newborn picture goes here", 2nd month "my family" space for a pic, 3rd month "my grandparents" ... things along those lines.

I am hosting my sister-in-law's baby shower this summer and I was wondering if anyone had some ideas about little things I could make as prizes.
Has anyone else done something like this for a baby shower?
I have done great fun things for wedding showers and for weddings but this is my first foray into the baby area (giving a shower, not having one).
Thanks a bundle!!!

I'll try to explain this as best I remember. I went to a baby shower for a friend last year. Here are some things that were really too cute.
1. the punch was a clear ginger ale, white grape juice thing with baby item shaped ice cubes using a bright red fruit punch! I asked........they got the molds (just plastic candy molds) from Michael's and froze red fruit punch in them then added them to the ale colored punch. So there were little melting rattles and diaper pins floating in the punch bowl!
2. there were three prizes for the guests. we were all give a necklace which consisted of a plastic diaper pin or some other small baby related item (you can get them in bulk packages just like wedding stuff. The object was to get everyone else's necklace away from them by pointing out things throughout the party. EG. crossing legs, playing with hair, adjusting pants, fiddling with jewelry. If you observed another guest doing this, you could walk up and take their necklace. The 3 people with the most number of necklaces got the prizes. One was handmade soap with a SU! card, a handmade candle with a card, and a stamped frame with the picture of the momma to be at the party.
It was really fun and I usually shy away from these functions---I send a gift! But I was glad I went. Hope this helps.
I hosted a shower for a friend and didn't do games (it was more of a cookout) but did give baby bootie favors to everyone. You get the small paper confection cups (almost looks like what you'd put ketchup in at Wendy's). You use two cups per bootie. Center the first cup on a tissue and place two cotton balls in front of the cup on the tissue as well. Pull the tissue up on all sides and tuck into the cup. Place the second cup on top of the first (it will fit into the first cup w/a little gap from the tissue). This is your bootie!! I put a blue (baby was a boy) bow on the front of the "bootie" (the part w/the cotton balls) and then put nugget candy inside. I did stamp labels and place those on the nuggets. Everyone loved them....and they were quick to make!!!
Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the "bootie" I'll try and see if I have one that I can post for you later!!! I tried posting a picture of the invitation I made, but the file was too big. I'm not sure how to change it to get it to upload, sorry.
Not sure if this is totally off subject, but I think I read on this board of a hysterical baby shower game where you melt a famous chocolate bar(Nestle Cruch, Reeses peanut butter cups, etc) on a diaper in the microwave, and then the guests have to guess what the candy bar was from the brown goo in the diaper. Anyone who's changed newborn baby diapers will know why this is so funny!
I think the winner of THAT prize would definitely deserve some big fancy wrapped candy bars, don't you?
Speaking of big fancy wrapped candy bars, what about the HerSHEy's/HersHEy's bars? Do you know if it's a boy or girl? My niece had twins so I made both.
