If you could only get one color group of the craft spots, which would you get? I want them all, but have to settle for 1 group to start with. I do a lot of scrapbooking, and I have a complete set of classic ink pads in Bold Brights and Soft Subtles, and then a few other colors from the other two groups. Any suggestions? I'm so indecisive and need help. Which color group do you think is the most versatile? HELP!
Well, I think it's definitely a personal preference thing, but my preference would be earth elements. They seem to coordinate better with the soft subtles colors if you do any two-step stamping.
But, I love fall and earthy colors more than the jewel tones of the rich regals group so I'm a little biased!
I had the same problem, and I chose the earth elements spots because they have a lot of neutral colors for scrapbooking. My next choice would have been bold brights.
I think the Bold Brights are versatile, since you get a lot of basic colors - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, turquoise... But, I'd suggest looking through your scrapbooks and seeing which colors you use alot.
On another thought, if you want alot of the new colors, you get 6 of them with the Rich Regals.
And just to really confuse the issue, there are several of the Soft Subtles (Amythest, Plum) that are prone to fading and if you want to use them in your books Craft ink would be much better.

I'm actually trying to make this decision today. I'm leaning toward EE because I have the full size BB's in most of the colors. If I didn't I would probably be buying the BB because they are more my style.
I still say BB because they have the primary colors. I always like to suggest that one to new stampers. Although, if you are going to get them all eventually anyway, then I say buy by the season. EE for Fall, RR for Winter, SS for Spring and BB for Summer. I notice I tend to use the color groups that way throughout the year.
I was in this exact situation and I got the Bold Brights. Then I played with them and saw the FANTASTIC samples in the Gallery using the Floral BG with Craft ink, and I bought a few full-sized Craft pads!! <g> I got Rose Red, Apricot, Teal, and Bashful Blue. I'll probably end up with all the pads eventually, but they're so pricey and I know I wouldn't use them much. But when you need them, you need them! <g>
Thank you ladies! I'm worse than a child . . . I want them all NOW! However, that ain't happening so I've got to be making a decision! Thanks for everyone's input.
Not to be out of it or anything, but I am, what is the difference in the Classic pad and the craft pad? I just got the Spot set in the 12 new colors and are they really Gorgeous!!!!!! ANNNNND I got the Floral BG because of this site! Now I am going for cardstock in the new colors. I will order EE assorted first to see which I like.
I vote for Earth Elements too. I love the colors in EE and I think they are the most universal to me. The BB are too bright and too primary for my tastes. They also don't seem to coordinate with each other as much as EE. So I would go in order
Earth Elements
Rich Regals
Soft Subtles
Bold Brights
Oh I would love to if I didn't HAVE to have Little Pieces and Hodgepodge Hardware right now too. Can't spend all my money at one time - have to pace myself. ;-)
Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm going to make a decision soon . . .really I am.
I had to make this decision about a month ago too, but I was able to get 2 sets of craft spots. My first choice was the EE, and I also bought the RR. The reason I chose these groups, though, was because I had the least number of full-sized classic pads in those groups. And I have 2 boys, so all the browns, blues and greens in these colors are the most useful in my scrapbooks. I will purchase the BB group next spring, but I probably won't even get the SS group, because I pretty much only use my SS classic pads for cards. I might just get a few full sized craft pads from that color group, because I think there's only about 3 colors I would use from that group in scrapbooks. I must admit however, I was really surprised how much I like the craft ink!
So I probably haven't helped you much, but my vote would go for the EE group.

I have most of the classic pads and am now thinking I should get the CRAFT pads but will get the spots because they aren't something I would use as often. 1st set will be EE (I'm particularly partial to these colors); next probably the BB (because of the primary colors); last RR. It really depends on your individual taste & which you find yourself using more often even now in your scrapbooking.

Boils down to your personal taste and needs. I agree that EE would be great now for fall-type stuff. But you're using it for scrappin', so you may or may not be "caught up" and doing fall pages anyway. I would look at the pages you're going to be doing in the next few months and what colors you need for them.
One piece of advice I got from my SIL who introduced me to stamping: if you have to collect colors slowly, start with DARKER pads. If you need a lighter color, all you have to do is "stamp off" or "second generation" the color. This bit o' info has served me very well.

Thanks Anita for the info. Now I wish I hadn't asked because I've always wanted to be able to emboss with the SU colors and now that I know I can it will COST ME! Gotta have them now! Maybe Christmas wish list?
