I found my stamping friend through my local stamp store. I sent an email to the owner saying that I was looking for someone to stamp with and she sent out the request out to her newsletter email list. Another idea could be to put a personals ad in the newspaper. Sounds funny, but you never know! LOL! I hope you find some stamping friends soon.

I love all these great ideas. As for meeting someone at my local scrapbooking store, unfortunately, I don't have one. We used to have one, but it closed up a few months ago. I live in a fairly metropolitan area, not the boonies or anything. Maybe I should open my own LSS? Then I'd meet people, huh?

Our son lives in Stuart, and we visit Mid January to Mid February. I get lonely for the company of another stamping woman when I'm there, and that's only for a month. I have a friend there, but she doesn't share the stamping bug. Maybe next year, we could get together and go shopping. The last couple years, I search for some stores, and found one in Stuart, and one in Lake Worth. PM me if you might be interested.

I think we should form a *lonely stampers club*, t-shirts and all, rent a villa with the biggest kitchen table ever seen (cause the party is always in the kitchen), 5 blenders for *inspiration cocktails*, vats of chocolate goodies, the coffee pot on a constant drip, ink, stamps, pretty papers, ribbons & embelishments up to our eyeballs. My private jet piloted by John Travolta (who will also serve as our man slave) will pick you all up.....

Now, who's in??????

(ah to dream!)

katherine, Hi! This is what I did and it worked after a few days. I put out a post under "get togethers" asking if there were any stamp workshops on Sundays............... Starla answered my post and have attended her 3 last workshops, and met mom2grace. this past week I saw another lady there from a group that I used to go to. Try posting under that catagory, and you might be lucky like I was!

I am a very lucky gal. When I moved to the Toronto area from Chicago, IL, I knew no one. I decided to take an in-depth scrapbooking class at LSS just to meet people. I knew how to do everything they taught, but it was only $150 for a full weekend, and I met a great woman who lives a few blocks away from me. We exchanged numbers, etc.

Well, a few weeks later, she called me and asked me if I would teach stamping to some of her friends. I said "sure". Well, turns out she has belonged to a group of women who get together once a month and craft for 15 years, and they asked me to join! It's a hoot! We take turns going to eachothers house, pick a craft, buy the supplies, teach it, and provide dessert. Everyone pays the hostess for the supplies. Granted, some crafts are better than others, but I now have 7 "crafty" friends! Most have young kids, except one girl Jane, and she is actually coming over tomorrow for wine and stamping!

Anyhow, I know how hard it is to be isolated in your craft space... so, try taking a few classes at your LSS, just to meet people, even if you already know how to do everything... maybe you can even help teach the class!

[hugs}

You know something, this is a fantastic idea. I think I may just end up trying that tactic out one of these days near my home... You may have just helped me big time. Thanks!

Katherine, believe me when I tell you I totally know where you're coming from. We moved to our current location a couple of years ago and I haven't really made any good friends yet. I do meet with a hostess club monthly, but I'd love to get together informally other times too. Some of the postings I was just reading have great ideas! Please don't feel too down, and go out on a limb and try some of the suggestions mentioned. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

I understand your feeling down about no one close to share your stamping excitement with. I hope you find a stamping buddy soon, virtual or otherwise.

I guess I'm different in that I prefer to stamp alone. I have a hypersensitivity to noise and several people talking at once is very unnerving to me. I do however have a great stamping friend who lives nearby and we talk on the phone about stamping everyday, go shopping for new stuff together, and occasionally craft together. When she invites me over for a "stamping" session, I usually just take stamp sets to cut out while she stamps because I find it hard to be creative unless I'm by myself. I know most people do not share my viewpoint, but I've lived alone for so many years that I'm just more comfortable in my own little stamping bubble. And, my two doggies are great company.

I'm just sending you hugs ((())) from Texas that you will find some friends to stamp and craft with and enjoy being together! It does spark new ideas and creativity to be with others.

I certainly could use a stamping buddy *sniff*. Well, then again, I don't even have non crafty friends. *bigger sniff*. Every now and then I go to a scrapbook night in a lss, but the others there just scrapbook and they all seem to know each other so well. Thank goodness for internet!

Hey Katherine
That sounds like fun! I have never done it, not sure how to go about it, but I am up for the challenge. Hope you had a great sleep last night and you woke up this morning with sunshine in your spirit and not feeling so blue.

Does your LSS offer classes? That might be one way to meet some other people who enjoy what you do! Would a SU demo in your area offer a stamp club? I don't belong to one, but have heard they are lots of fun. I mostly stamp alone as I'm retired and can stamp all day long if I choose (lucky me!), so I put on some music I enjoy and stamp away. I also spend lots of time on SCS and consider those I *chat* with my cyber stampin' friends.

I have a stamping buddy but she lives 50 miles away which isn't far but also isn't close enough to stamp together a lot. I wish we knew where people lived. It would be cool just to get together with a group of people and just stamp with no pressure to buy something or bring enough stuff to make the same card for 30 people or whatever.

FYI I just changed my avatar pic to a better one. The pic Katherine commented on was a much smaller, not as good photo, and harder to tell what the animal was. She just gave me the idea to update it. Thanks Katherine.

This MIGHT have been brought up already, but, how about taking a class or two at your LSS? That way you can kill 3 birds with one stone! 1) Support your LSS (all the ones in these parts could use some serious support) 2) Meet new crafting friends IRL 3) Have goodies to take home in your hot little hands while having learned new tricks and techniques!

I seriously have almost no friends who DON'T stamp. it is everyone's favorite past-time right now. But it wasn't always that way.

One way I made tons and tons of friends was becoming a Stampin' Up demo--Seriously I have about 50 women that I could call today that would love to come over and stamp. I never would have met them if it hadn't been for SU. And that's just customer/friends--that doesn't include all the awesome fellow demos, upline and downline friends I've made.

Oh my gosh GWTW Junkie, I'm so jealous of you! I don't have any stamping friends- although I just met Robin and Katherien through pms. We're gonna try to get together.

By the way, I just saw GWTW again earlier this month. Love it!!!

I am an SU Demo, but just a Hobby Demo. I actually have a day job, so no time (or talent) to develop my SU business. My upline is also a Hobby Demo, and her upline lives far away. Some day, I'd like to do more with it.

No offense taken. She sure does look like a raccoon. Sometimes she acts as guiltly as one too! She's a seal bi-color. That means she has the white inverted V on her face with dark brown around it. Ragdolls are born all white (with blue eyes) and it takes them about three years to gain full coloration and maturity. There are several different colorations though. Seal bi-color is just one of them.

Katherine, how about organizing a SCS get together in your area? I organized one with a some other ladies(Hi Paris, Terri, Dotty, and Cindy!) a few years ago and we met about 50 local SCS members and fellow stamping fanatics! It was great fun and we have planned several since. You can post in the Get it Together forum. You will need to find a venue like a local community center, pick a date and time, and maybe ask for some help from some fellow SCS members. When we were planning it we met a few times. When we were at a local restaurant we told the waitress we met online. Just what we are telling our kids NOT to do! LOL! We did a shoebox swap at ours. We just split it into 3 groups. If you have any questions about organizing a get together just shoot me a pm.

Good luck!

Kathleen

I'm the same way, Kiko!

I've learned to accept the fact that if I'm stamping in a social group setting--even if it's just one good friend and myself--I will be largely unproductive, creative-wise and, because I am exceedingly linear sequential (hands head in shame over her inability to multi-task as the female species is revered for)--the only way I can be creatively productive, is if I've pre-planned a specific project, and bring only the supplies needed to duplicate that same project (like a set of 12 cards).

But, I do adore the social aspects of gathering with friends who share the same obsession, and, dishin' all things rubbah--I attended the SCS Shoebox Everett Gathering (Sno-Heaux in March), and had a BLAST! I'll definitely be marking my calendar for the next one!

Oh, Novell . . . NoveeeEEeeeeell? RT? Joyce? ......... ;)

And, tomorrow, I'm *so* happy! A customer/friend of mine when I was an SU! demo'r, is having a newly remodeled stamp studio inauguration par-tay!!! I'm bringin' the appletinis, and so excited to see the many gals I've missed since I quit doing workshops last August!

I do most of my stamping alone, too. But my friend and I have decided to get together on the last Saturday of every month for a "girls day out." We stamp all day, stopping only for lunch -- then go have dinner and then to a movie. We've been doing it for about four months, and I'm sorry we didn't think of it sooner.

That sounds like so much fun!

Wink

There are apparently a lot of us who are also lonely. Misery loves company.

Here is another thought for you Katherine, a church group. My church has a group called Girlfriends! that gets together once a month and crafts. Everyone bring whatever craft they like to do. Most of us are addicted to rubber stamping and scrapbooking. Maybe you could "shop" around for this type of group or start one yourself. You are also welcome to drive to Orlando and join me at Girlfriends.

Katherine,
I am in PSL also!
What a small world!! You can email me at [email protected].
There is a small group of demos here. We get together monthly. We are all "related". Is your upline not local?

I also have no friends that stamp. I tdo ake the opportunity to attend several classes during the year just to stamp with others. The good thing about this though is that I have no competition in giving stamped cards to my friends. They are always so-o-o-o impressed. If they stamped the novelty might wear off. :

That is too weird. I was just thinking that myself. I stamp by myself. One of my friends stamps but her husband is in the Air Force, so they are transferring to Ohio. Now I have no one...I do feel lonely at times. So, I turn my music on and I feel ok. But would like to have a stamping buddy though. My stamping sister is in Colorado and that doesnt work either, but we do share ideas via email, SCS, phone, but still not the same..

Default I stamp alone too...

I feel so much better reading all these posts. I thought I was the only one who stamps alone. My friend that started stamping before I now is into sewing. My other friend who took me to my first Stampin Up party didnt get hooked and now thinks I am obsessed. She actually gave a way all her stamping stuff to a 13 y/o.

I do belong to a stamp club and stamp with them once a month. I am new to the group and feel like an outsider but each time I see everyone it is getting more comfortable.

Thanks to this thread I now know I am not a misfit! And I feel a friendship in this group.
