I've tried my fingernails, scissors, the table edge, and I even rummaged around under my bathroom counter and came up with a pedicure tool, which I took out to my stampin' camper. It has a stiff brush on one end and a big time sand paper thing on the other. The sand paper thing works alright, but none of these methods are great, and I just know I'm missing some crucial bit of info on this.
Personally I like to get the edge a little wet then use my fingernail to scrape. Once it's scraped I can separate the layers and roll it a little. Took a few tries to figure out how to do it. Good luck!

Thanks for that thread, Erika! I should have done a search. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I just don't even think about the search engine. On this site, there are so many helpful people, you just sort of take it for granted that they'll have the answers!;)
I was the one who posted about the Pampered Chef orange peeler. Use the part that you "hook" into the orange, running it across the edge of your cardstock. Use the opposite end to further pry apart the leaves of the cs, if you wish. Fabulous results!

Making Memories has a similar one. You can either get it in your LSS as part of their distressing kit, or order separately online (I got mine from www.addictedtorubberstamps.com).
Tearing the edges first, or using deckle scissors on them, and then using this type of tool gives you a more rugged-looking distressed edge, like the anchor image on my card here: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I'd love to know how to use a bone folder for distressing. I can't seem to figure that one out. :rolleyes:

I have to agree with all the ladies. I use a bone folder, sanding block (my favorite) and I do have the Heidi Swapp and MM distressing tool, but I hardly use those.

I just rub the edge of my bonefolder along the edge of the paper...sometime I "ding" up the paper but tapping the edge of the paper with the edge of the bonefolder and then I run the bone folder along the entire edge of the paper!

I use a pampered chef scraper. The ones that you get with the stoneware. It works great. I also just use my fingernails. Mine are definitely tools, not jewels! ;)
