Hi!! I desparately need some sort of "tabletop" storage for my ink pads -- I have all 48 classic and a few craft. I very much like the SU caddy, but REFUSE to pay $70 for it!!! That could buy a lot of stamps!!!
I'm looking for suggestions on what you use, where you got it, and how much it cost!
This probably won't help you, but I use an old cassette holder that I had in my attic. It sits on my desktop against the wall, and works perfectly as it holds 60 ink pads. Maybe someone you know is a pack rat like me and has one in their attic??
A couple of months ago, a bunch of us were on a kick and bought a Fellowes cassette holder to store our ink pads. It sits on a tabletop and spins. It holds all 48 pads and then some! It was super super cheap. But I forget the model number. It was on clearance.
Go to the Fellowes web site and do a search. Good luck! It is really a good storage unit to have.
I built my own. I think the supplies were about $20. Found a very nice guy at home depot to cut all the pieces for me at no charge too!

I left my camera in hubbies car, but when he gets home I'll take a picture!

I found this link for the 100 cassette holder for $8. I haven't tried it, but it looks intriguing. I do have the Stampin' Up holder and really like it.
Ok, girls, I want that cassette holder FE 3204, but it is from Canada and I cannot get in the zip code to find out shipping for here, plus it is in Canadian dollars not US dollars. Help!

It could be better designed, I was at my office when I designed it, and I didn't have an inkpad there to measure, so I just guessed! Thats why the blue ribbon is there, I ended up having to add a piece on each support because I hadn't planned it high enough, and I didn't like the sloppy way the two pieces looked! But it works really well, and I screwed a handle to the top for when I need to move it around (of course I've got so much stuff, you can't see the handle!)
There are 14 spaces in each column, I supposed eventually I'll run out, but so far I don't own 56 pads!

And heres the rest of my desk area... At the same time, I also made the wheel and ribbon holder at right side of the picture. I had some left over pieces, and it actually works quite well!

I got one from ebay, $27 holds 70 pads. It arrived smashed to pieces, after I paid $11.99 shipping from Canada. Now I have to wait 30 days for the guy to make a claim from his insurance, before he sends me another one. I think I got the original link somewhere here and everyone said how wonderful it was. That will teach me not to buy from SU - SU would never have treated me this way.
Heidi,
That is a great job! Did the HD guy cut all the pieces?? So all you had to do was put it together?! So behind the ribbon - how did you put it together? Is it supports so the one that is vertical is cut out so it fits over the others? I think I can do this I have mine in a spice cabinet that my fil made but our kitchen is too small to fit the cabinet right now and we are running out of storage space anyway the pads are turned sideways and that is just a pain!
Thanks for sharing !!!

In between each shelf there is a small support piece, both to support the shelf above and to devide the columns. I covered it because the pieces I originally planned were just a tad to short, so I ended up having to put another small piece on top to make them a bit taller, and I didn't like the way it looked! The only pieces I had to cut myself were the support pieces, they won't cut pieces that small.
I was lucky with the HD guy I found, usually they charge you for all that cutting! The shelves and the back are made from 1/4" MDF, but hardboard would also work, some stores don't carry the thin MDF. The top, bottom and sides are 1/2" MDF. I screwed it together with drywall screws, cause I had lots of them. I used small finish nails to hold the shelves in place and the supports in place. Somewhere on my work computer I still have the original diagram, if you need it.

I have to say I did spend &80.00 on my stamping organizer. But it is made of wood.it's also a turntable. it holds all the su stamp pads, markers, tons of wheels 2 handles.and the top has a space for bottles, peralex powders, tons of room.
I don't remember the website name but I did get it from scs.somewhere the guy who makes them is from NH.hanks something.sorry I can't remember I'll try to find it.He does however carry much smaller and cheaper ones.He also makes ribbon racks.paper holders, you name he makes it for su items.and is well made.and keeps everything very organized and all in one place.
