that is a tricky background to use. What I end up doing is turning the stamp over, rubber up. Smoosh the ink pad on the rubber to make sure it is all inked up, then lightly rub the ink pad over the rubber to even out the ink so you can't see the lines where the ink pad overlapped. Press HARD onto the paper so hopefully it shows up all nice and even.
I haven't mounted my Just Jeans yet but when I stamp with any background stamp I lay down with the rubber up, ink well, lay card stock on the stamp, then I put scrap paper on top so I can rub with my fingers so I get the whole background. Hope this helps.
Is the surface you're stamping on hard, or flexible? I know I've had trouble with this stamp and those folding tables that shake when you eyelet on them. (Y'all know the ones I mean.) Maybe try a different place?
I had the same problem with the Just Jeans background until I started using the brayer . I use the brayer for ALL of my background stamps, I love it. It is much less labor intensive then trying to use the ink pad (and provides much more even coverage).
Lay the stamp rubber side up on a table, ink up brayer and roll over the stamp. Leave the stamp on the table, rubber side up and place the cardstock directly on the rubber stamp and rub your hands over the cardstock. Lift up the cardstock and ... Viola! A perfectly stamped background!
Okay, I love the look of Just Jeans, but when I tried to ink mine it was splotchy,
I tried rubbing the ink pad over the stamp and using a brayer.
Of course I butt stamped!
Any tips? TIA

Considering all the chocolate I have been eating lately I have not been able to get a good impression with my Just Jeans bkgd. stamp either - also using the Lana Butt Stamp Method.
I have resorted to inking up the Just Jeans stamp using Lana's method (sweeping the ink pad across the rubber in all directions until completely covered) then placing cardstock on the floor (no carpet) then laying the inked stamp on top, then standing on it.
Do not attempt this after consuming spiked chai tea lattes; I will admit to falling down unless holding onto my desk. :oops: Perhaps I should keep this info to myself... :lol: :lol:

When you start out at a size 0, all the chocolate only gets you to a size 2 - not enough mass for butt stamping. If you need support for floor stamping after spiked chai, call - I'll come on over. I am having a great visual ...

Then I take a piece of scrap printer paper (larger than the CS so I don't get my hands messy), and lay that on top. Then I use the long edge of my bone folder and sweep that across from top to bottom and side to side. I have never had a problem with Just Jeans using this method. HTH!

I just got the JJ stamp, and I would like to try the brayer method of inking. I do not have a brayer right now. Is there a certain type to look for, and how do you "ink it up"? Do you rub the brayer over the ink pad, or use reinkers? I just have the little Stampin' Spots, but I also have the reinkers.
