Default Issuing a challenge!

Okay.... so many of you have commented on how difficult my cut away cards look that I'm issuing a challenge to others to try it for themselves! I think you'll be surprised how quick and easy the cutting is. Then you'll be just as hooked on coming up with new designs as I am!
Give it a try and PM me if you have any trouble and need any help or advice. I'll be looking for your uploads!

This is a link to one of my cards;
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

You can see more of mine just below this one.

I've had many requests for instructions, so here goes:

I cut a piece of CS 5" x 3 1/2" and stamp my image on it, kind of visualizing where the rectangle will be. I've also used a light table. I
lightly traced a rectangle on the back side of the CS, then stamped my image on the right side. The light table makes it easy to put the image where you want it. The next step is to cut along the lines of the rectangle with an Xacto knife, making sure not to cut where your image is. (Don't do this on your light table unless it has a glass diffuser!) Then use scissors to finish cutting around the image. I sometimes use a second layer, cut just slightly larger and with a slightly smaller rectangle cut out of the middle. (This is only neccessary if your image has a lot of delicate cut-outs, like the arms on my snowman card.) I then stamp the background that will show through the opening (either on the card itself or on a piece of CS a bit larger than the opening), put strips of excess rubber (you could also use mounting tape) along the edges and wherever a piece is needed for stability. Carefully remove the thin rubber backing and line up the front over the background. I use thin ribbon and glue it around the foam mounts so they don't show from the sides, but it's not really neccessary.
I know it sounds complicated, but it really is easy once you've done one! Feel free to Pm me again if you have any questions.

Hmm....I have been wanting to try this so maybe this will be the kick in the pants I need to give it a whirl! I don't get to stamp until after lunch, but I'll try!

OK, Happy Heart,
I won't get home until late this evening, but I'm going to try your challenge. I already have my card planned out.

Okay, I did mine, but I didn't read the part about the foam mounts first....oops! So it's just glued down. I'll have to try again later. But it looks alright this way too.

mine was just approved, I made it before I saw that you had posted the directions, lucky for me I did it right, I think next time though I will double the mounting tape to make it stand up taller. Here is the link:

One question ~ is it 5" x 3 1/4" or 4 From your picture it looks like you did 4 1/4. Sorry, just trying to clarify before I attempt.

Kimbers,
Oops! It's actually 5" x 3 1/2". I hope I didn't foul anyone up with that mistake. You have a good eye!

Thanks for the challenge! I've wanted to give it a go but have been putting it off. Thanks for the push! My 5 yr old son wanted me to do a plane and I wanted to do a snowman (for my MIL's b-day). So I ended up doing both.

I am uploading mine now. It's kinda late, so it may not get approved till tomorrow. Guess it depends on how late Jenn is up tonight

You ladies all did a fantastic job! Beautiful cards!

I am so looking forward to some stamping time this weekend. And this cut out technique will be at the top of my list.

Well, Ladies, I hope I haven't missed any of your creations! I just hope you keep them coming, and that I've convinced at least a few of you that it's not as difficult as it looks. I'm still having fun with these and have many ideas I haven't tried yet.
