I used my "flitting by" jumbo wheel with black cart. last night and did two rolls on a piece of paper and thought it was the coolest thing till I looked at my wheel. It was COVERED in BLACK!! I know I used a light touch when rolling.
I scrubbed forever with soap and a toothbrush but the wheel is completely stained. I for one don't mind if the wheel is stained but how do I convince my customers that the jumbo wheel is something they need to buy when it makes that big of a mess with the ink?
Has this happened to anyone else?
I just got one of the new christmas jumbo wheels, and mine was covered in ink too! But I used bliss blue and not black. Maybe for demo purposes, you could stick with colors other than black. They will make a bit of a mess, but I just run mine under the sink and voila! They are clean.
I had the same thing happen, and I thought it was just me - lol! This is my first jumbo wheel so I have nothing with which to compare. In addition, if I put the wheel into the handle one direction, one butterfly does not ink completely. If I turn the wheel the other way, it's okay. I think the rubber was cut too closely to the images on one edge. I did manage to make some really cute cards using the crayon resist technique and this wheel, so all is not lost.
I'm interested in others' responses about the completely inked cartridges. It's not such a big deal until you use the black ink!
I've seen this happen too. I completely forgot when I placed my order or I would have ordered a blank or Yoyo yellow cartridge. That's how I clean StazOn off my stamps. It works great. Looks like I need to do another demo order fast or I won't be able to use my carnival wheel when it gets here.

I am a little confused.... you use a yo yo yellow or blank ink cartridge to clean your stamps? Could you explain more, I am curious to know.
Yoyo yellow will remove black ink off rubber. If I had remembered I would have gotten a Yoyo yellow (if they sell them) or a blank one (to make a yoyo yellow one) for cleaning the wheel. I do it with StazOn too. You just ink up the wheel or stamp with Yoyo Yellow and then wash. It takes the black right off the rubber.
Who would have thought...That is a great tip! I will have to add a yo yo yellow to my order today! Wonder if I should just get an extra pad, then use it for stamps, and the wheels, hmmmmm....
Thanks!
I have one designated just for cleaning after StazOn. It was definitely worth it. Anytime a stamp gets stained, I just rub it on the Yoyo yellow and it's good to go again.

GET OUT!!!!!! Yo Yo Yellow takes Basic Black (bleedproof) stains OFF your rubber?????????????????????????
Am I understanding this correctly???????????
HOW does it do this? Is it the chemical composition of that particular color that actually makes it work as a cleanser for bleedproof ink??????
You have me totally piqued on this!!!!!!!!!!
If I knew how, I could bottle the reaction and make a mint. I don't though. I only know it works.
Yes, it will ruin the Yoyo yellow so you have to designate one pad soley for this purpose, but it will save a lot in the long run. I learned this at a stamp camp and then tried it with my cartridges when I messed up a wheel. It's great ~ and yes, Julie, it takes every black, stazon included, off the rubber.

THis is amazing!
Thanks sooooooooooooo much for sharing this Einsteintonian discovery!
I wonder if I just bought a YoYo Yellow re-inker and used it with a piece of felt. (I hate to ruin a pad)

Heck, I wouldn't mind at all, considering the cost of special cleaners I've invested in for this express purpose!
This is a GREAT and INEXPENSIVE solution to cleaning those darn stains!!!!!!! I'm just going to put a fluorescent sticker on it to distinguish it from my good Yo Yo pad!!!!
Yippee skippeeeeeeeeeee!

So is it really the YoYo Yellow that does it, or is it just that you notice it because it's yellow and black? Would it work with Mint Melody? Not that I want to ruin my MM, and I even have an extra YYY, but just curious how yellow could do something that another color couldn't.
I've only used yellow. Do you remember a few years back when they had to take Yellow Die #X out of all the food, it's probably a compound in the yellow that breaks down the black ink. The only thing I've found it didn't work on was my brayer, but bleach didn't even work on my brayer, so I'm sure it's the compound that it's made out of.
All I can tell you is Yoyo Yellow works and I've been cleaning my stamps with it for a year. Definitely time for a new pad!!
I am also super duper excited to hear about using yellow to clean off stamps!! I am sure that I have stamped black in yellow thousands of times by accident, so my customers will love it the next time I do it on purpose during a demo!! I love my jumbo wheels and I have had no problem with them, but I only have lighter colored ink. If you have problems with black, maybe just try rolling the wheel over your black ink pad to pick up the color (for smaller projects).
Kymber you are an angel for posting this for all of us! That is so wonderful to know. And I will be putting a hostess order in today or tomorrow. I am sure to get another yoyo yellow pad! Wohoo
Thanks so much. Doing a HAPPY dance. My stamps will be clean, they will be clean....
Check this out. A little show and tell for all of you. Attached is a before and after picture of a wheel my daughter didn't clean "to spec" last time she used it ~ probably 6 months ago. I got it out tonight, ran it through the Yoyo Yellow ink cartridge then used a little hand soap and a gentle scrub brush (my Dawn spinbrush) and it came pretty darn clean. I did go a tad further to see if the yellow would lift off the black from the crevas, and it did. I drop of reinker and some Soft Soap and a 2 year old roller that was left sitting looks pretty good.
I did notice that the jumbo wheel colors do not include Yoyo Yellow, so I'll be buying an extra refill and a blank cartridge. For now I'll just rinse really fast after use or run it over the pad I have.
