I was wondering how many other men visit this forum? I am other wise known as Demo Support for my wife. Or ladies how many of you have your husbands working in your sweat shops......... just kidding. Well I hope everyone is enjoying a nice 2009 thus far.
Well We're actually called DH's here. ( Darling Husbands)
Here's the deal... I got into this by 1st spending all kinds of money to finance
her card making. Makes her happy you know!
Then after spending all that money, I just couldn't justify spending even more money buying a card for her at Hallmark... so I made her one for Valentines Day. That really started it! She said OHHHHH you should post this!
Naw it's really not that good! But she insisted and made me my own gallery!
Now I've got a few cards in there.. (oh let's do the FS, we're on this challenge, we need to make Christmas Cards)
So now I'm on here all the time making comments on cards, talking with people all over the world it's quite fun actually!
It's nice to know there's another guy out there that's on this site.
I've raised a challenge to other hubbys to make a card for their wives and post it just so I won't be like the Lone Stranger... but no takers yet!
Well thanks for showing up and try your hand at the art!!
Good Luck and Happy New Year to you and yours.

Challenge sounds like fun, I will have to see. We are just North of you. I am going to do a Valentines this year I think.
Yes there at the womens facility. and live up above Merced.
Atwater? My Sis in law lives in Merced,.our kids are grown and live here in town along with our grandkids...great fun!
Oh my DW Pat would like to know your wifes username so she can go look at her gallery. You know that whole comment thing.... we all pretty much do it!
Guys I just want to say it is a pleasure having you here and it is great to see Men taking an interest in there better half's hobby, and even making your own cards. My DH dosn't make cards yet but he is my greatest supporter and critic. Thanks for sharing and I hope to see you around alot more often, we are pretty harmless and I would appreciate a man's opinion on stamps that would be good to use on male cards.
I am getting a kick out of this thread (as I sit here watching the Pittsburgh game with my dh). I asked him if he wanted his own screen name and gallery (yes, he does make me cards on occasion!) and he respectfully declined (actually said 'No way!'). Now if this were a hunting site, I couldn't keep him off of it!
I, personally, think it is awesome that you all take an active interest in what your wives are doing. Oh and I love 2Bcreative's little gallery... cute stuff!
Welcome! My DH doesn't stamp but he offers encouragement and has, on occasion, sparked a good idea. He has also helped color images and allocate space for this addictive hobby that helps us all maintain some sanity.
To be honest, I don't know if I would want him more involved in stamping because I like having my own sanctuary but I do appreciate his input and support. Plus, if he actually stamped, we'd have no more room in the house 'coz we'd have to get all the tools I'm "missing" plus his own sets of stamps (different styles). He has used my heat gun to do something plumbing related so he knows our tools are cool!
But if he wanted to stamp I'd suggest he get the SU starter kit so I'd be Demo Support LOL!

take care
Thank you for this thread and it's nice to know there are male supporters and stampers in this forum.
My husband and I also live in Central Valley and yes...we are the cow town. LOL My hubby doesn't read a lot of the forums but he likes to see the cards that everyone makes. He usually only reads the funny posts that I show him or anything that makes me laugh. I also show him the tutorials and then I show him what I made based on the tutorial and he really appreciates the time that is put into making a card. He says "Why do people even buy cards when they can just make it themselves and it looks so much better?" Well, we all know that not everyone makes their own cards or even have the interest. I find that it's a very big compliment to the many talented stampers we have here.
He still laughs about my Magnolia "Tilda" stamps not having a nose or mouth. He thinks it was designed by a man (I do nag at him). I hope there will be more male members in our forums.

I think it is AWESOME that there are DH's that stamp and support their other halfs.
My DH does not stamp, but is GREAT to take along to the stamp shops as he has some wonderful ideas. Whenever I need a second opinion I ask him. And 95% I end up loving his ideas and imput.

Welcome, StampersHusband! I also think it's terrific that there are a few men out there who want to be a part of this awesome community! I see you've met The Buckle Man, who many of us have as well. Also known as Bubba to us, he has a delightful sense of humor and pretty awesome gallery.
My DH has always been very supportive of my stamping addiction and will even check out the galleries once in a while. I asked him if he wanted his own username so he could post comments or chat in the forums, but he declined. Who knows....he has been known to change his mind....maybe someday down the road.
My Dh is usually lurking in the background "supervising" and acting like he is not interested...i just read most of this thread to him and asked him if he wanted a username so he could participate...after learning that there were other DH on here he said that he thougth it would be fun. I am sure he will be joining this thread soon! This may become a family addiction now!

Gallcomp, your blog is amazing. I can't wait to read your details on copic techniques!
My partner Rick doesn't stamp but is the best sounding board and critic I could ever find. And always finds the best stamps in any store we visit. He has such a great eye for picking out just what I would love.
One of my co-worker's husband loves to stamp and is amazing at coloring. He puts her work to shame. LOL!

Welcome all the DH's. My husband is very supprtive of me and my addiction. He has yet to make me a card....I should leave some paper/stamps/punches/ink out and ask him to make me a card for Valentines Day...and see what he comes up with.
My DH isn't a member, but he often looks at the gallery on Saturday if he liked the inspiration challenge, or I'm gallery gazing with the laptop in bed. And quite often he'll ask me to leave a comment on a particular card. And he makes the odd card from time to time. He just thinks there's altogether too much ribbon here - he's waiting for a No ribbon allowed challenge to come up, LOL.
Don't forget about Mr.Hambo... that would be Hambo's "other half" ... he draws the stamp images and she comes up with those awesome quips.... quite a team!

To all you guys who stamp, more power to you. I've tried to get my DH to make me a card, but so far, he doesn't think he can do it. But he is my biggest fan, encourager and finance officer He has built me shelves for my stamps, built me a stamp room, even put in a flatscreen TV with DVD player and a laptop computer so I can keep up here at SCS. And he doesn't do much complaining about my "expensive hobby". I enjoyed looking at your gallery The Buckle Man, I'm impressed.
my DH is more like a slave.. When i have to mass produce something he's the poor schlep that's cutting out 100 label 1 nesties and sticking them in the prescribed place..
he's actually going to take a Copic class i'm teaching next month. He's really curious about blending and loves to colour things.. so we'll see..

I tried that at Christmas. Maybe I didn't give him enough training, and it doesn't help that the Wizard is on the floor (but hey, that's where I use it). By the time I listened to all his complaints I should have done it myself, but by the time he'd finished he'd got the hang of feeding the plates through till they engaged. And of course once he'd started he wouldn't stop, had to see the job through.
Because he works in DTP he's great for designing things like labels for the back of ATCs and pages for flag books so that they print just the way I want.

Let me know if this works for you I have been hinting at it all week

Thanks Colleen! You rock! I usually hang out in techniques, I like learning about different drawing techniques mostly. The cards I like to make are a little..uh...different than most stuff you see on here. Don't know if it's a guy/girl difference or that I'm just challenged when it come to color coordinating and using scissors without hurting myself or others. I even have a gallery! I did put up an album of just colored pencil drawings too.
I've wondered how many guys are on here. I've checked out THE Buckle Man's cards before..pretty cool stuff.
