... seems that crafting can be dangerous to your eye health. YIKES!!
Since Monday morning I've had a seriously bloodshot eye, it burned a little. I knew it wasn't pink eye or a few other disorders that I have encountered over the years and it didn't feel like there was anything in there so I decided to wait and see. This afternoon it started to really hurt so I took a trip to the eye doctor to see what was going on.
Sunday, I was helping my little friend make Christmas presents for her parents and grandparents.. those clear ornaments with an acetate image inside, we used some Martha Stewart glittery snowflake like stuff for the bottom of the ornament. They turned out cute.
Well, guess what the eye doctor found imbedded in my eye?
The doctor said.." Wow, it looks like there is some blue glitter in your eye,..strange, it looks like 3 small pieces all in a small little area".
She had a dickens of a time getting it out, turns out that Martha Stewart stuff is very thin clear mica film with little blue dots on it. It was so thin and small, I didn't feel it in my eye, but it still lodged in there good enough that it was difficult to get out and left a scratch on my eye.
The doc says my eye'll be good as new within about 24 hours..
My DH joked that he's going to get me a pair of safety glasses for Christmas, crafting is dangerous.. ha

OMG! I hope your eye gets completely healed! And soon! Thumbs up to the safety glasses idea! Who would have ever thought that glitter could end up being that hazardous! But, actually, I always wondered why she has some on the show that she says is made of "GLASS!" Or did I hear her wrong?
This has happened to me. I didn't have to go to the eye dr because I had a feeling it was MS glitter & flushed my eye with Visene (sp?) for a long time. It did finally get better but I'm very careful with glitter around my face now. lol

Wow! This is a new stamping injury I had never heard of or experienced! I thought I had seen it all. Glad you are going to be alright! Darn that Martha!
I work for an ophthalmologist....and let me tell ya....we see it more than you think! Cheerleaders mostly, though. Bits of glitter in their eyes. It's the worst when they fall and need the eyelid stitched and the doctor has to sit there and pick glitter out of the laceration....
I am glad that your eye is alright now. There was a thread that I seen earlier today with a card that has a warning on the back of it that the card has glitter on it and to not rub your eyes after handling the card. Maybe all glitter containers should come with a warning and advise that we use saftey glasses when appling glitter. Thanks for sharing.
Funny story, but serious! What we do for our craft....

I would have never thought of this happening. But I will be very careful because I use glitter a lot. Now I go to work with glitter in my hair, face and cloths, but I never thought of it getting into my eyes. Thanks for sharing this.

I just read this post yesterday about cute safety glasses... now it seems like they might be a good investment! (And yeah, some of them are REALLY cute.)

Glitter is a dangerous thing!
Hope that you feel better soon!
My cheerleader has lost so many contacts to the dreaded glitter! Good to know I have to worry about the glitter too ( I use a ton!)...
