Default Is it just me.. or do most new sets need"coloring?

Maybe I'm just seeing things... but almost every page shows a set that needs coloring in... I love the look... and it means a great chance to up sell with pencils/markers/tools... and this is just an observation... not a criticism! Just curious is anyone else noticed...

Default sets needing coloring

Tennisgirl

Yep, I noticed this, too. Most of the new sets seem to require coloring. I wish that they would have had more 2 step stamping sets, so that customers who don't want to color have more options. Some customers don't like to use markers, or watercolor pencils.

Ugh!!! I noticed it too, and although they are adorable, it's just not my style. Don't get me wrong, I love the new catalog, and I have a huge wishlist, but bold stamping and 2step stamping is my style.... bam, quick, easy, and done, no coloring. With that said, I am starting to do more colorbook style stuff, and can't wait for the new brushes....but all in all, we need more bold stuff!!

I noticed it too. Seems like the sets are more similar to CTMH sets than in past years--not such a good thing IMHO.

I'm with you...I like 'em quick & bold.
Not too much for that coloring stuff!

Up until recently, I avoided coloring like the plague! As I recall, I never liked it even as a kid. With that said, I've gotta tell you that I'm hooked now! I still like the bolder and two-step stamps, but the coloring has opened up stamping for me and allowed me to go beyond my comfort zone and try new things.
I love the watercolor pencils (They're almost foolproof and really quick!), Pearl Ex powders, and chalks, but rarely use markers except to color the stamps before stamping the image.

I'm not a big fan of coloring, either - I just don't have the patience! And I have customers who are the same way. But you wouldn't believe the amount of Versamark pads and pastel sets I've sold since showing them how they can "color" without worrying about staying inside the lines!

Whew! Glad to know I'm not seeing things... Its not really always my style... the aqua brushes will help lots... and I do like cross selling the other products customers will need... its an easier move than showing them a card with 3 diff stamp stamps,

I;m off to sharpen my pencils!

I think that it will be a great way to up sell our Aqua Pens. Just stamp an image in say Night of Navy on Confetti cs and "wash" the Aqua Pen over the image & BAM you've got a colored image. It looks really nice. I can see it using a stamp from Coast to Coast, or Changing Seasons as well as Dance Sketches. Look at the example next to it and it is beautiful... I am excited about using the Aqua Pen for oh so much. I too love the Bold & 2 Step sets..I will just have to learn more on how to show off all the new goodies we now have to embellish our wonderful sets!

Happy Heart and cincystamper - I totally agree with you - coloring used to stress me out - believe it or not. I'm not the most artistic person. At the first SU party I went to, the demonstrator used versamark and I was thrilled that I didn't have to worry about staying in the lines. This was also a party I went to telling my husband - don't worry, I'm not going to spend much, I don't need another hobby. Well, let's not talk about how much I've spent since

Anyway...most of the new sets I'm looking at involve coloring and I'm not too stressed about it!!
