Default Just wondering about your stamping "space"

Where do you stamp?

Right now I don't have a dedicated room, but want to create one in the future in my basement when we finish it. An extra bedroom is a possiblility- we have one that we use as an office, but it is too far from the family room where my toddler plays. So, I have a dry bar between my kitchen and family room and I store all my stuff in the cabinets of the dry bar and pull it out when I stamp. It's a pain and I would stamp more often if I had my stuff more easily accessible. I want to stamp more often. I am just curious if everyone has a dedicated stamping/craft room or if you don't what you do.

Thanks for your input.

Wink

When we lived in our 1 1/2 story house our 1/2 story was my/ Dh's offices. Now that we moved into a 5 bedroom home we each have our own office (in the basement) and the three bedrooms (master, DS and Guest) are all upstairs.

I LOVE my craft room. It's big enough where I can have a 6 ft + a 4 ft table across so there is plenty of work space or spread out space. The closet has built in shelves, I purchased paper cubbies that offices use to store all of the SU paper. Those are on the shelf then I bought two cabinets from Target which have doors and three shelves in each to store all the stamps.

To hold the accessories- I have two carts on wheels. I got those from Office Max. They are the HARD PLASTIC so they don't sink in the middle when you load them with items.

To hold all of my customer/ month items I have a small 2 drawer filing cabinet which is seperated out by month- so I can keep upto date records for tax purposes and then the other drawer is used for cutomers slips and project ideas.

Don't think of me as organized in ANYWAY!! When my customers come over for stamp camps they always comment on how clean it is and organized. What they don't realize that I scramble to clean two days before they come and it took me almost a year to get things they way I like them. I have changed my room around three times to get it where it is now. You just have to figure out what works best for you and how you want to approch things.

1. How often do you use embossing powders, pearl ex, etc. Do you want those in a drawer next to your table?

2. How accessible do you want your stamp collection to be? Do you want to be able to see you stamps out in the open or do you want to hide them when company is over?

3. What works best for your space and all the paper that you collect? Do you want to purchase a lot of items to store them in? Are you on a budget? Do you have enough room for a filing cabinet (some demo's have their paper in these) Do you have extra space for 12 x 12?

You have to decide what works best for you and your family. How much space are you going to be abel to have. If you want I can post pictures.. If you tell me how to do it.

My stamp area is in our basement. My DH took down a wall or two and put up a couple so that I now have my own space. He put up a couple of walls so that it is all separate but there isn't a door - just a larger opening. We have our TV and all my DD's toys and whatnot down here too so I can keep an eye on everything while I'm down here.

I got a big L-shape type desk at Costco and put several shelves up around it for all my sets. I have a large cube shelf system from IKEA for all my other stuff against the wall behind me. My stamp space is pretty large but I'm trying to keep it all in 1/2 of the room b/c I know that if I start to spread out more and we end up moving I'll probably never have a space as large for all my stuff!
