Rainsong - its a must have! I love mine. I don't mind the 100 slots. I figure as a demo I'm going to own all of the colors eventually, in Classic & Craft. I'll need those slots and maybe another unit!

It's worth the investment!

So far my stamp pad collection only fills one drawer in the Sterlite 3-drawer storage tower (another Big Lots find) so I don't have to worry--yet. I know eventually I'll need it. I also know I'll eventually have to move my stuff up to the guest room and out of my office. No table space here and limited on how many Sterlite towers I can squeeze into my already full space. So--yep--I'll be buying one.
Sigh, if dh wasn't so busy bringing home the bacon and nailing up siding/insulating/shoring up foundation in our old farmhouse he could make me one.
I have the same question as Sandi above. There is no way my husband would let me attach one of the to the wall, is there a way to make it free standing? Or could you possibly design a separate purchase to make it so? Thank you so much for asking everyones opinion!!!

OMG - In regards to making a base for the LW100 (or any rack), I went out to the warehouse and got nosing around and playing with different things. We have "Easels" that are used to display albums, cards, and books. They come in three different sizes. They are made of heavy wood and match the racks. I took one of the large units and set a rack on it. Wow, perfect. Anyone that does demos needs this. They are hard to find... go to kingdom.com and in the search box type: W123E
In front of me is the first re-designed LW100. I used #1, #3, #4, and #5 poll questions and made it just a little while ago. Whew. Many hours more to go and many more months before production. You will like it, the quality is in the details! It will be the best... due to stampers!
Hmm, I quess you'll have cool your jets... I have six other brand new racks to get into final production (they hold CDs and will never work for stamps or pads) and they won't be ready until the week of July18th. Best guess would be the beginning of September. Sorry Spongebob... (I have one on my desk and is the first thing one sees as they come into my office.)
That's a lot of stamps! How 'bout a pic of your area? I promise not to use it in any form - like on e-bay! You know, come to think of it, what about a LW100 designed for stampers only?... I've got an idea...
Well, I hadn't found this thread before or I might've waited for your new design rather than ordering one last night! But I'm glad I ordered it anyway. I need to get my ink off the table.
If, and only in theory, the LW100 had it's shelf spacing reconfigured to:
starting from the left,
4 3/8" + 6" + 3/4'" + 6" + 4 3/8"...
The outer 4 3/8" shelves for little pads, the wider inner six inch shelves to hold the larger pads sidewides (can you read the label?) and the center 3/4 x 3/4 shelf for pens... am I on to something?
I'm not sure you'd even need to go to 6". My SU! pads are 4 1/2" longwise, so if you made it 4 5/8, that might be big enough. My Spectrum pads are only 5 3/8, and I only have a few of them, and I think those are the longest pads SU makes. Anybody got a discontinuing color or something they can send Dave to play with? I've got a spare reinker, if that would help at all.
If I had the choice of this THEORY rack and the redesigned LW100, I'd go for the LW100. I only have three spectrum pads and I have all 48 of the classic SU! inkpads and will get the new colors (how many of those are there? :blush. I also plan on slowly getting the craft inks (that's another 50 or so). I'd much prefer the 100 slots to be able to keep all my SU! classic and craft inks.
My preference would be similar to musicmarth's. I would like to have the shelves deeper so that half the pad doesn't stick out, except the longer pads (like Spectrum) that would stick out a little bit. I have the 48 pads (plus plan to get the new 12 or so), all the StazOn pads, the Gold, Silver, and Bronze pads,a few of the Kaliedascope (Spectrum) pads, and a few of the Craft pads. 100 slots all the same size would be best for me...deeper and tall enough to hold all the pads. Thanks for listening to our ideas!!
I will anxiously be awaiting for September to get here so I can purchase one of your newly remodeled shelves. That is unless you really are planning on making one for stampers to hold the ink pads and markers etc. All of my ink pads right now are in three different drawers and I could certainly use that space for my stamp sets. Keep us posted David as to what's going on.
BTW, I have read through this thread many times and wonder how in the world you got connected or started on SCS.

Are the units that are now available at the website the re-designed units?
I have Mica Magic, Brilliance, StazOn, Versa Mark and the new style SU pads and just remembered, Spectrum pads... Definitely need to get them all stored in one place and not all scattered as they are now...
Thanks for a great looking unit at a fantastic price....

Sandi and Tonya, they normally will stand on their own. However, when a case, stamp, pad, etc. hangs out it could make it tippy. Simply purchase a wide pine board (say 3/4" thick x 7 1/4" wide x 24" long) from any home center and screw it to the bottom. It will act as a base.
Nancy, your rack looks like an old Napa Valley(r) rack which are no longer in production. Great thinking on removing the inserts!
Dave
Thanks for addressing this. I have the same problem, can't mount it into the cement wall in the basement. Right now I just prop it against the wall, and it's pretty sturdy.
But I will ask my dh to put a base on it, so it can stand free without wobbling.
I'm SO glad I saw this thread. I learned a lot, and I can make better use of my cassette/stamp pad holder.
And mine holds staz-on, versamark, etc, just fine. I have to put them in sideways, and they hang out the front a little. This is why I have to prop it, otherwise it wants to fall forward.
This is a tremendously FANTASTIC way to store stamp pads, economical, practical and nice to look at............it's all good, thanks Dave!
