I was in a scrapbook store yesterday and saw a large display of sample cards using dry embossing. I really liked the results The clerk said the samples were sent by the company, Lasting Impressions.
The cards were mainly pastels with kind of a subtle look - she said the edges of the embossed areas were sanded - there was a special buffing tool. It was this sanded look that intrigued me.
Does any one know about this company or where to see similar samples? I checked out the website and I could find almost nothing. I did not see any books with samples.
Sorry... that'll teach me to comprehend before I respond! You are looking for samples of the embossing, right? Try emailing them to ask.. they're both very nice ladies and I'm sure will help you out!
Nicole,
Thanks for the reply. I checked out that website, and it seems to be a different company with a similar name. Lots of great things there, too, and will have to look it over later.
The one I saw is Lasting Impressions for papers. I did take your advice - sent an e-mail to the paper company. (This is a case of too many ideas and too little time!!)
Dorothy,
Lasting Impressions is were I got my start in card making. They have beautiful templates and card ideas. Unfortunately their website does not have a good gallery. touchofembossing.com has more in their gallery but the gallery hasn't been updated for awhile. Lasting Impression paper has a white core, so when you sand the edges the white show thru and you get that pretty distressed look. I hope you decide to try their products, I've enjoyed them for many years!

I was going to suggest the same website as Melissa, in addition to the Lasting Impressions website. They have published several idea booklets and their catalog is loaded with ideas. Usually these can be found in a local stamp store, but I have seen a lot of the booklets on eBay.
Dorothy,
Depending on where you are located, Lasting Impressions was just at the Allentown PA Rubber STamp & Paper Art Festival through Heirloom Productions this past Saturday and Sunday. If you check out the Heirloom website www.heirloompro.com maybe you can see where they will be next. Lasting Impressions is out of Georgetown MA and I see a show for MA coming up in June. There is lots this year on the east coast that they might attend as well. Good luck!
This is a company located right here in Utah. Their website has a few samples that are so cute. They sell paper, dry embossing templates, buttons, brads, distressing tools(little flower shaped sandpaper things!), and ready folded cards and probably more. Cute stuff. I'm pretty sure you can buy online, but if you have any problems and want anything, thier stuff is available at a number of craft stores around me.
Their website is lastingimpressions.com
I spoke with a girl I know that works for them a couple of days ago and they have updated their website, so you should be able to find some fun ideas.

I taught a few classes on this when I worked at the scrap store.
The little sanding tool is sold by Lasting Impressions, however, you can use regualr sand paper, just make sure it's fine in grit. You will more than likely want to use white-based patterned paper (cardstock weight works the best). If you use regular cardstock, you will just get the image, but sanding it, won't really make much of a difference.
I am so happy you found Lasting Impressions. I use LI paper, brads and buttons with just about everything - so easy to coordinate a scrapbook. Check out the new "Scrappy Cards" - a 6 x 6 mini scrapbook card with envelope. They come in kits, too, with coordinating paper and embellishments.
For tons of samples, check out touchofembossing.com - they have fantastic samples categorized by season/holidays. They are super fast at shipping an order and I always find a few extra "Thank you for ordering" goodies in my box. Great customer service and fantastic creativity.
