I was telling my sister how I bought this wonderful thing called a matt pack and then she asked me what all it could be used for and I could not answer that. I told her I would check out Splitcoast because it is the best place to find out anything. So I did a search but came up empty handed. So, could you all please tell me what you use your "matt packs" for.
I use the paper piercing template for faux stitching. If you get the white gel pen to go along with it, it makes a really cool stitched look. If you type in faux stitching on search in the gallery you can see some great samples.
The matt pack is great!!! I use it for the faux stitching, placing eyelet holes equally apart from each other, centering holes on a card or a layer piece for the card. I use the foam piece with the setting mat for piercing through paper for brads. (I used to use a piece of old mouse pad for brads, but this foam is much better!!) Hope this helps, if i think of anything else, I'll post again. =)
The mat pack can be found in the Stampin' Up! catalog on page 228. It includes a paper-piercing pad, a paper-piercing template and a setting mat, each 4"x4".
I love the mat pack for faux stitching with the white gel pen. Everytime I demonstrate it, most of my workshop guests order both, along with the stamp set I use to demonstrate the technique!
I just bougth the mat pack from SU to do faux stitching! We used it at a stamp camp and it is a geat deal at 10.00 just wish it came with a needle of some kind.

You can always use a thumb tack (that's what I tend to grab when I'm too lazy to dig out the paper piercing needle that I have) Don't use the flat head ones, that just makes it MORE difficult - LOL!

On the piercing guide the holes that are the next size up from the tiny tiny ones are spaced very closely to matching a small spiral notebook (like one that fits in the palm of your hand).
If you have a piece of cs cut the same size as the cover you can use the guide to punch the holes. Then cut slits and you can slide the cardstock over the cover and push it right into the wire. It ends up completely covering the notebook, and you do not need to rethread the wire through the spirals.

Britta - YOU DO ROCK!! (Yes I am yelling!) I *never* would have thought of that!
That's what I'm going to demo at my first workshop on May6th. I hope you're right, khaden, and everyone buys it and the stamp set. I'm using Heartfelt Thanks! That's gotta be a good thing!!!

I just did my first faux stitching card, and used the mat pack for the piercing. Came out great. That was the main reason I bought it. I'll have to try some of the other suggestions.
I did Faux Stitching on Julie's cute purse at my last club--the ladies went crazy the all purchased the mat pack! Thanks for the additional ideas, I'll share them at next months club. So keep the ideas coming!

Of Course you can buy the crafter's tool kit, which comes with the mat pack plus a piercing tool, a couple needles, two sizes of anywhere punches, an eyelette setter, plus some other really cool tools. All this and the little black purse that they come in. It's a little pricey, but it's truly one of my favorite things. (other than bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens) Here's the link: http://catalogs.shoplocal.com/stampi...ircularid=7278

I saw someone who decorated a naked piece of cardstock with a pencil eraser and white craft ink . . . I thought if I did that I could use the matt pack to help line up the dots
