Default Message for Owners of Splitcoast

I had wanted to do something to help Katrina victims and then I saw cre8tveldy's post (she's my demonstrator for all the parties I hostess). We discussed it, and I posted an ad for anyone interested in selling their retired stamps on Splitcoast and having all the proceeds go to the Red Cross for the Katrina victims.
Update: It was just pointed out to me that the donations would be tax deductible, so anyone who sells their stamps should just send the money to the Red Cross directly and indicate it's for Katrina victims and you can get the tax deduction.

Mary

Just a thought: Could each person individually donate to the Red Cross their profits instead of sending them through one person?

I think part of the reason people would rather do it themselves, is that all donations are tax deductible. Not saying that it isn't a good idea, it's wonderful.

Mine wouldn't bring in enough $s

I plan to make a larger donation than what my small batch of used stamps would raise. It would be such a small, small drop in such a huge bucket.
My church (actually the denomination) that I belong to immediately sent $10,000 from our World Relief fund via Church World Service. Following that gift, every dollar that our local members send with the word Katrina on the check, goes directly for food, water, blankets, tents.... Denomination does not use anything for administration costs.
Sadly, I have heard that there are already people trying to make money dishonestly, using this disaster as a ploy. It is good that you want to send to Red Cross. They are honest. Also the Salvation Army is honest.

Default Donations to Red Cross for Katrina Victims

Yes, I never thought of that. Your donations are tax deductible, so anyone could sell their stamps and send the money directly to the Red Cross. They don't have to send it to me. Maybe I should edit my post?
