I hear a lot of people raving about Michael's. The closest one to me is more than 1/2 hour away. I do, however, have an A C Moore 10 minutes away. I've stopped at Michael's several times and find that I don't like their selection. For example, yesterday I stopped in the pouring rain to get some pop dots. Walked around the store 3 times and couldn't find any! Picked up the kids and went to A C Moore, there were a couple different kinds to choose from. Does anyone else have a store they like better? We also have Jo-Ann's but I never think of them for crafts, just fabric. Guess I should go shopping!
I go to both Mike's and A.C. Moore's but prefer A.C. Moore. I think they're prices are chearper and they have a bigger selection og stamping related supplies.

I also like AC Moore better. The Michaels I used to go to has a horrible selection, in addition to the store being too small and dingy. There is a larger, cleaner Michaels in my area now. But it's farther away and traffic there is horrible. I also have a Hobby Lobby that is very nice nearby. But usually go to ACMoore because of their 40% off coupons!
I ususally prefer AC Moore.
Not only is their selection larger, but they happily take competitor coupons.
I have 2 AC Moore's and 2 Michael's w/in a 1/2 hr from me and they're all a little different.
I do find that one Michaels is better than another, too. It seems that the newer stores are larger, better stocked and organized.
I know that each store sells some products that the other doesn't. I'm sure they do that on purpose to get people into the stores w/o duplicating products.
Our Michael's, JoAnns & A.C. Moore all will take each others coupons,so thats nice, but I still find I run to A.C.Moore the most. Our A.C.Moor will actually take 2 coupons on the same visit now.

michaels or a c moore
We do not have an A C Moore...our Michaels is nice and I am familliar with the store...we now have Hobby Lobby and they are cheaper than Michaels... also have Jeffrey Allens which to my surprise has neat scrapbooking and craft department ... but then I also like Jo anns and if you ask to be put on mailing list they also have 40 5 off coupons and will honor Michaels !!!! but my favorite is the clearance at my favorite scrapbooking store, she always has something new in there..ans I am so far behind that her "old stuff" in clearance is "new" to me...ha ha
I also like AC Moore over Michaels. Micahels seems to be a bit pricey, where AC Moore is easier on my wallet. The empolyees at AC Moore are more willing to help you out & are nicer. This is just my opinion.

We don't have AC Moore
As for Mike's, I think it depends which one you walk into. I like smack dab in the middle of 2. One is definately better than the other and has better selection. Oddly enough, the one that has a better selection is also always a complete disaster and they seem to be moving things around all the time and it is hard to find things. The other one is clean is bigger and never rearranges, but they have crummy selection.
We have Hobby Lobby, but they have more stuff for decoration that is already done. I typically don't go there unless I am desperate and no one else has it. Our Jo Ann's is a waste of energy to go into and Hancock fabric just went out of business.
AC Moore by a long shot, but all I have is a Michaels. MIL has an AC Moore and we usually go when we visit,. It is bigger, better sales, more generous with their 40% off coupons (I get one every week in my pennysaver and although I know that I can use it at Michaels, I feel "cheap" doing that, and AC seems to be willing to scan a "register" coupon if you forgot yours), and it has a much more fun selection for all craft stuff like yarn, wedding/baby themed stuff, unfinished wood furniture, ect.
Oh, how I wish my Michaels would turn into an AC Moore! LOL!
I have a choice of 2 Michael's but they are both a distance away & one is definitely better stocked than the other. The Michael's employees are nice enough to take multiple discount coupons no questions asked while the AC Moore employees always give me a hard time before finally doing it or asking me to go through the line again for a 2nd purchase. Overall, I guess I do like AC Moore better for selection & price. Our Joann's doesn't have much at all.
Don't go out of your way to Michaels if AC Moore is right there! We just got an AC Moore and I was driving a 1/2 hour to get to it before it came to our town. The people at our Michaels are not very friendly and it's more $$ and less of a selection.
We don't have AC Moore here in Texas (it would be nice if we do)but I like Mich@els so far is clean and I go there with a coupon on my hand only(stumps, aquapainters and sizzix) for the rest I keep my shopping at Stampin'Up.

I have never been to AC Moore's but I have to say I think the staff in Michael's are amazing. We went to Orlando on holiday last summer and I went to the Michael's there in my first week and bought a Sizzix machine. I then went back the second week and bought the convertor, I was talking to my mum in the queue about how I wished I had bought the machine that week because Sizzix items were on offer and I had bought it the week before.
The girl behind the desk said that if I brought my receipt back then I could have the refund. This to a Brit is AMAZING service. We never get discounts, never mind get the discount a week later when they didn't have to give it to me.
I dream of living near a Michaels, I know how much I bang on about how much we Brits have to pay, but if I had to but a Sizzix over here it would cost about $150 and that would never, and I mean NEVER, be discounted. So I end up buying a lot from the US and having it shipped, but I obviously can't ship large items.
I prefer AC Moore b/c they have a better selection and great sales. The thing I do like about Micheals are their coupons in the newspaper and they have gigham ribbon whereas AC Moore dosen't.
We have a Michaels and ACM and I have to say hands down it's ACM for me and my friends. I must say I like it when Michaels has a 50% off so I can use it at ACM
For customer service, price, and selection AC Moore beats Michaels! I also have noticed AC Moore stays on top of the trends and has items well before Michaels. For convenience, I do tend to go to Michaels more often as it is right down the street from me and both AC Moores are 20 minutes in either direction. But 75% of the time I walk out of there frustrated and head over to AC Moore anyway! My local Michaels employs the rudest, least helpful people and they take FOREVER to restock certain items.
I miss ACMoore's. When we go to NJ to visit I go into AC Moore's and load up. They have so much great stuff to stamp on. When we went last summer I brought home a big box of all kinds of goodies that I hadn't seen at Micheal's, then later on Micheal's got that stuff in. I think they are a little behind on the trends and what is up to date.
My Michael's and AC Moore are about 1 mile apart....so I have a choice. I like AC Moore better. Better selection and lots of new products. Thankfully, both stores take competitor coupons....and I'm never without a coupon!!!
I have a Michael's, an A.C. Moore, and a Hobby Lobby. Of the 3 A.C. is the best. But Hobby Lobby is closer to home, and Michael's is clear across town(Montgomery, AL). I quess I prefer the one I have a coupon for. LOL!!

Mike's sort of gives me the heebie jeebies when I walk in their store. We have both relatively close, but the Michael's is so crowded & cluttered that I usually only go to AC. The stores are about the same size, but I just don't think our M. does a nice job of organizing their products & it just seems a little chaotic. If I wanted chaotic I can just go visit my own stamp room!
Wishing and Hopin' ........but it hasn't done me any good to this point.....I still live at least 4 hours from a Michael's and A C Moore???...I have no idea about what or who they are. You're a lucky bunch of gals!!!
