Holy crud! My dad is a carpenter - I don't know if he'd have the patience that yours seems to have! How did he come up with the design? It's SO COOL! Are you going to paint it or anything? Is it heavy? What kind of wood did he use?
I think *I'm* gonna pee my pants!

I helped him somewhat with the design, told him what i wanted and he just made the final calculations. It is VERY labor intensive as he has cut each and every single peice of wood to fit into slots, but he has by far done more detailed type of wood work than just this. It's his passion. It is one of those things where he refuses to do it as a job as he is afraid that he will no longer enjoy it. Kinda like I am with my scrapbooking and stamping (oh wait, I'm a rep for SU!, oh well, so far I am still enjoying it) LOL.
Anyway, I'm not sure the type of wood, I just know it is super super cool and I can't wait to mount this on my wall. We are going to paint it white.
What a SWEET father to be so supportive of a hobby that most men don't quite understand. That is a beautiful piece of furniture that you'll treasure forever. I'm excited for you to begin to use it!
Please tell your Dad he has a new daughter and her name is Laurie! I would LOVE one of those, it's awesome! Lucky, lucky daughter! Thanks for sharing it!

No, sorry, I don't like to be called Laurie, LMBO. You are too funny.
Thanks everyone I am totally stoked about getting it. I forgot to mention, he is putting dowels down the sides to hold 24 wheels and making 7 drawers there to put all sorts of goodies in. I just cant wait.
Wow! That is a fine piece of woodwork. Your dad is terrific to do such a beautifully detailed piece for you like that. You better be really nice to him!
Yeah! Your dad is awesome. My dad is in a nursing home now and can't do this sort of thing for me anymore. However maybe I will get my son to do it for me! He works for a company that builds things!
This is gorgeous!!! My FIL built a stamp shelf for me as a Christmas gift and I was just as happy about it as you are!!! Now if I can only have him talked into one for my cardstock :o)

That is awesome!!
Both my Dad and my FIL are wood workers. My FIL makes some of the most beautiful bowls, vases, heck he even made a pipe one time! But I have yet to ask either one of them for storage solutions  I must be crazy!! I know it is labor intensive and I just hate to ask -
ENJOY! And do share a photo when it is done - I am sure it will be beautiful!!!!!

Why am I unable to see this fabulous wood working that your father has created? I am new to SCS and have logged in but don't see where I can view this from. Thanks!!!
Please tell him that his long lost daughter Cindy (from Pennsylvania), that he has not seen in awhile, would also love one!!!!
It is AWESOME!!! Enjoy!!!

a picture should show up on the very first post. Mine took a few seconds to download, try again and wait a few seconds to see if it shows up. You shouldn't have to do anything.
Laura that rack is awesome, I may have to talk DH into building me something like that.

Hi Laura, that really is an awesome shelf. Tell your Dad he has another long lost daughter in Canada and if he ever wants to come for a visit he's more than welcome, I think I have all the power tools he'd need while he's here, ha ha ha!!!!!!
Check this. He is done! Woohoo!!! This is looking so pretty. I just love having it all put together now. He is so awesome!!!
The drawers are just the perfect size to fit a whole case of stampin' spots as well as my blender pens, aqua painters, glues, etc. I am using ribbon on one side of the storage (since I don't have too many wheels yet) and then the wheels on the other side. It fits so much stuff that I am pleased as punch to have it.
He did say that he would be willing to build them, but with what it cost him in supplies and time it would be pretty expensive.
