Hi Ladies,
I'm getting so excited. It sounds like we are really getting somewhere now! I checked and my clubhouse won't work because it's opening daqy for the pool. However, my community association has a community room that holds a maximum of 75 (per fire marshall) with a small kitchen and bathroom. It is available in four hour blocks. How long where we thinking of going? There are also folding tables and chairs available that we would have to set up. The fee is only $10 since I am a member of the association, but there is a $100 security deposit refundable if there isn't any damage ( so no trashing the place ladies  ).If you all want me to look at it, I can do that. It's very close to me house so its no trouble. Let me know if you want me to check it out further.Subs AND pizza sounds good to me,Keri!
Janet
Wendi- Ok, I'll check in with the pastor this weekend to see if May 14th is an open day to use the church. I don't think there would be a fee to use the facility, but I will check with her. I think to be comfortable, and have adequate room to work/play, 30-35 would be the max number of people the church could accomodate.
Janet, why don't you also check further into your community room since it could hold a larger crowd...10 dollars for a 4 hour block of time isn't bad...do you think they would let us go over 4 hours if we needed to?
I'm gettin' pumped up gals, I'm just dying to meet some area stampers!!

Great April! BTW, what church do you go to? I'm only 2 miles from Southpoint. I'll check out the community room a little further. Maybe we could get it for 2 four hour blocks if they won't let us go over . That's still only $20. I'll investigate more.
Wendi, how does all of this sound to you?
Yippee! This thing is starting to come together!
Janet
Okay ~ Dad sold the house today and it's a 45 day escrow so he'll be leaving CA in 45 days so May won't be a problem for me. I definitely prefer Raleigh and the club house (definitely not the church) ~ would be willing to pay to use the club house.
Hey Janet, Woodcroft is super close, right down 54 from my church. It's a small church, just past Fayetteville road, then go under the overpass (40), headed east on 54. It's on the left, Peace Covenant.

hi wendy,
I'm in Raleigh. I would love to come to another SCS event! I'm very excited about Atlanta!!! I would be happy to help any way I can. May 14th. sounds good to me, marking calender. let me know if I can help.
clubhouse near me is $50.00 to rent & near 540 in Raleigh, it will hold
45 people. hope it works out. got get back to swaps!!
I would love to join in on this get together also, that is if it is in Raleigh or Durham. I know, I live in Virginia but I'm only 1 hour from Durham and my son lives in Raleigh so we tend to be down in the area quite a bit.
Goodness you all have been busy bees! Sorry I haven't been posting lately. I'm trying to organize our family summer vacation with the entire Brant clan and believe me, I think organizing the SCS event for 100 ladies would be easier! Whew! We found a few places on the Outter Banks so I'm calling the realtor today to reserve a house.
O.kay - by counting the votes I am going to say Raleigh/Durham wins. So, Janet and April are working on a spot, but the Community Center sounds like it has more room in general. We need our space!
Time of day? Is four hours enough? Should we book for 8 hours? We could do 10 - 2 or 9 to 5. That way travelers wouldn't be getting home in the dark.
Anyone want to organize the food? I try to stay away from anything that even remotely resembles preparing dinner so could someone organize that?
We also need to organize the shoe box swap.
Anyone want to demo a technique?
What else do we want to see?
Oh, I think everyone should bring a stamped goodie for door prize drawing throughout the day. Winners get to choose from the table of goodies. Sound o.kay?
O.kay - post your thoughts and replies.

I won't be able to organize the food but, I will be glad to bring Dessert!!
I also think bringing stamped items for door prizes is a great idea!
I have an easy suggestion for food ~ Subway and Pizza ;) Kidding, I know it was said before. Actually it is the easiest way, just have people send $3 each to one person. Those big sandwiches go a long way. Then everyone could bring their favorite dessert or cookie.
I would also suggest we have several make and takes. Have a few people (I'll volunteer) come up with a project and a supply list. You list the supplies and everyone brings their own. It usually works really well. The person doing the make and take provides the stamp pads only so it saves on cost.

Is this open to anyone...can we still get in on it or are numbers limited? I'm also in VA but have an aunt in Raleigh and a niece in Greensboro. BTW, when is it?
11 of us belong to a stamp club that meets monthly in Greensboro and I would guess that at least half of those would attend a day workshop. I have gone to something similar to his in the fellwoship hall of a large church where the cost is minimal. An association clubhouse would work great if it would be big enough. I would also be willing to help with the logistics of putting this together. Just let me know what part of it you need help with.

I think just by the number of people interested in coming, we have sized ourselves out of the church site. i hope Janet can arrange the community room! We're in luck though, there's a subway and a domino's very close to Janet's housing addition, so food shouldn't be too much trouble. Should we all just plan to bring 3 bucks (or what ever Wendi et al deems appropriate?!), then we could call out for pizza to be delivered? That way we have an accurate headcount? (There's bound to be people to either cancel or arrive last minute!)
I think the make & take idea is a great one, as is the door prize idea!
Sounds like there's tons of interest zooming in, and enough people who are local to help make this a reality...I'm so excited...doing the happy dance in my chair as I type!

Bump ~ yes add to the calendar. How complicated do you want the make and takes? I can do a fruit can if you want easy or a cool gift box thing. Just let me know how easy or hard. Oh, wait ~ got one even better.
Well, we're on the calendar. Anyone wishing to demo a make and take, please PM me. I'm taking the lead in coordinating the projects. Details to follow.
