Hi Ladies,
Sorry I haven't had a chance to check out the community room yet. We've had the crud and have been under the weather. I will try to do that in the next few days so we can get a firm idea of the space fitting our needs. If I feel that it fits , should I go ahead and book it for May 14th? For how long? Times? How many people are we expecting?
Thank you Kymbers for taking the lead in the make and takes!
Janet
Hi all! I'm with Janet on the crud thing. I have it, my two daughters have it and my husband is in CA on business. :? Thank goodness for my mother!
Unofficially we have 35 if one lady brings her stamp club from Greensboro. I would say 50 but I'm not sure. Did you say the room held 75?
Sandra, pansy711, stepped up to take on the food. She will collect money and order subs and such and organize people to bring baked goodies if anyone is interested in helping her out. Cost of food will come later, when we find a facility. If you would like to bring a goodie please contact pansy711. (Sorry, I don't know how the techno gals add links to their posts.)
Kymbers is in charge of make and takes. Contact her if you are interested in helping demo. Kymbers, sign me up for something, o.kay?
I am looking for someone to organize a swap - shoebox or otherwise.
We are going to collect cards for the soilders, have contests, and door prizes. It's gonna be fun! Be there or be square!

Have only been stamping for less than a year, but would LOVE to get together with lots of gals and do some stamping! Charlotte would definitely work best for me.
I have been a demo almost a year and would love some help with ideas, techniques, etc. My upline moved across the US last year and haven't heard from her since. I have been paddling on my own! I don't know anyone in my area that is a demo for SU. I would love to join in on May 14 in Raleigh. I live only an hour away . . . keep me posted!
I must speak up for all of us on the Western side of the state!! We'd all love a get-together also but it would be difficult as it is a 5 hour drive to Raleigh, Charlotte is 2-2-1/2 hours away so I vote for Charlotte! Someone once told me it takes at least 12 hours to drive from the Outer Banks to the Western North Carolina border at Tenn...A lot of distance for one meeting point.! Any thoughts???
Raliegh is 3 hours from me, but it's worth it to meet everyone. I know it's hard to please everyone we just hope those that are close enough to Raleigh will come. We look forward to putting faces with names and personalities with all these typed words.
Talked to Janet and she is checking on the room availability for the club house. If that falls through does anyone have any other options? Our clubhouse would be way too small. I can start calling hotels to see how much it would cost to rent a conference room.

Hi Ladies!
I finally was able ( and well enough) to get up with the lady in charge of the community room. We've been playing phone tag all week. I have good news and bad news. The good news is I think the space would meet our needs. The bad news is it's already booked from 9am-1pm on May14th. It's available later that day but not the times we wanted. I'm not sure 1pm-9pm would work because of all the ladies who have to travel. What do you all think? I wish the lady had told me that there was a conflict before I went to all the trouble of calling her and making an appointment to see the place!!! I'm sorry that I got everyone's hopes up! I feel really badly that it didn't work out. Does anyone have any thoughts or other ideas??? Anyone have another location in the Raleigh-Durham area? That seems to be the most popular choice of locations.
Again, I'm so sorry to let you all down.
Janet
Well, shucks! Sorry the community room didn't work out Janet. Are there other people who live in communities with clubhouses/community rooms that can be rented out? Anyone who belongs to a larger church with a big fellowship hall (mine will only hold 30 people or so)? How about the possibility of renting out a cropping room at a local scrapbook store? Many times their tools (die cutters, etc) can be used, and they'd have plenty of tables & chairs. How expensive would renting a banquet room at a hotel be...I'm thinking several hundred bucks, which would make everyone have to pay a chunk.
Or....dare I even ask...we could consider changing the date to another weekend in May, and see if Janet's room was available???

So . . . has this event falled by the wayside? There haven't been any new posts in a while .. .
Actually, there have been a ton, and we are just looking for a new location. I CAN'T do the other weekends in May. Sorry, NASCAR's in town. Any other location ideas?
Wendy,
I would love to come and help for 1/2day in Raleigh. I am tied up with Habitat Humanity that day but can possibly get away. I am excited that you are doing something in Raleigh. Frances Wagner
No luck yesterday - I'm trying to stay near a major highway so it won't be a travel nightmare for those coming from out of town. Pansy711 is checking on a spot but it holds 50 max so we might have to limit the number coming... that would be no fun! My next route is to go through the phone book and search for spots that way.
Anyone in Raleigh Durham have a suggestion.

Have you looked into renting a social hall at a local church? That is what I'm thinking about doing IF I hold a stampin' day here in Virginia. Seems like a good deal and the room is huge!
I'll keep watching this thread because I really would love to join you ladies . . . good luck finding a place!
I'm still holding the 14th of May open. Here's hoping a place can be found. Janice, I may be interested in your Virginia get together also depending on where and when it is.
If you hold it in Raleigh (close to the airport) then I possibly have a large meeting room. It will require a lot of set up and tear down, but it will hold lots of folks and tables. We use it once a quarter. [email protected]
I PM scrappydo about her location. Sorry I haven't posted updates. Been away on Spring Break with the kiddos and then bogged down with many other things you don't want to hear about.
Your day going better Kymbers?

The week is progressing nicely. Now I need to know if the 14th is confirmed! My boss wants me to work that weekend but I told her about this but if it falls through, I'll work and get the comp time.
