I know this has probably been asked to death but I have been searching the past few night to no avail!!
I am looking for ideas on how to store my 8 1/2 x 11 SU cardstock...I have my 12 x 12 cardstock in the clear drawers from WM. I prefer this since it is closed off..we have a kitten!!
I have tried the file boxes, but I am looking for somthing to fit into my scrapbook room...like a permanent/stylish storage...my furniture is white. I have also recently tried milk crates..don't like those either!!
I use magazine holders - like you get at an office supply store. And then I lay the holder on it's back. You can see it here: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
But it is not closed like you mentioned UNLESS you put the solid back facing outward like it is suppose to go. KWIM?

I use 2 Rubber Maid type containers that are designed to hold Pendaflex file folders. Then I have a folder for each color and also keep a Ziplock sandwich bags in each folder for the scraps.
They make clear drawers that are approximately 8 1/2 by 11, but I would think that would be a pain with so many colors to keep track of.
I made up 48 file folders for my CS. Then I got 4 lovely pastel holders at Walmart (one for each color family). They have a handle and are decorated with butterflies. However, as my paper collection grows and I am stamping more, they are getting to be a pain. My friend does a hanging file system, which seems to work great for her. You can get a rubbermaid or sterlite clear box for hanging files. They snap shut so the kitty can't get in. I am thinking of switching over to this.

This is EXACTLY what I do, too! Hanging file folders all the way, baby! And I've got a little excel with all the 48 SU colors, plus other C/C - WWhite, Natural Whtie, etc. I'd be happy to email it to anyone that wants. I plan to get a file cabinet with 2 drawers sometime ... when I don't have any stamps to buy
Thanks ladies for all your replies..I am not sure what I am going to do yet...I would do the 8 x 11 drawers like my 12 x 12 is in but I have so much cardstock Maybe I need to clean out of that first?? :(
At walmart they have several storage things for 8 1/2 X 11 in the office supplies department. I haven't tried any of them yet but they look pretty good I don't remember if any of them were closeable or not, but you may want to look there if you haven't already done so.

I use the Safco "Go Cart" for my paper storage. It's working very well for me! :-) There are 4 different "sections" that I use for each of my color families. I can keep my back up cardstock on the shelves below (also some of my other stamping accessories and magazines. I like how I can roll under my craft table when not in use so it's out of the way.

I use IKEA furniture - it is relatively inexpensive and it has worked beautifully. I have my paper in pendaflex folders in file drawers and then others are in a cabinet (behind closed doors) in the plastic Crop-in-Style look holders SU sells with the plastic dividers between each color. It works great for me.
If I cut a piece of cardstock and have at least a 1/4 sheet left it goes back into the file for next time. Anything else goes into my scrap box. The scrap box isn't pretty, but it has really worked well for me. I am working hard at reorganizing my space and hope to post pictures soon.

That's exactly what I use. It is absolutely perfect!!! And I just have mine sitting on top of one of my rolling carts.
Do you have an IKEA near you? I have one of these that I love! I need something closed off as well, due to the sky lights in my room, I origianlly had non-closed storage, and had paper fading problems!
Kelli I do believe you need to contact IKEA and tell them the need for a store in your area I LOVE IKEA for inexpensive storage solutions - I feel so sad for you not having one within driving distance. I have to say I would drive for a day on occasion just to be able to purchase what I need. That's how much I love their stuff.
I agree...I am gonna call them...I don't think they have one even remotely close to me here!!!
I have there DVD (stamp pad) holders and LOVE them..I probably would go crazy in that store..maybe it is a good thing they don't have them here!!

You know what? now that I think about it... I think I was the one who got the DVD holders for you.. your name sounds familiar!! I should have known that you didn't have an IKEA near you! HA! Whoops.
I use a white plastic (heavy duty) 2-drawer file cabinet that's on wheels and keep my paper in hanging files also. It holds all 48 colors plus neutrals and specialty (haven't put the In Color there yet!).
Now these are both neat!
One quick question....what is A4 -size paper?

LOL..how funny...after I was reading the responses I looked at your SCS name and thought...I think she might be the one I got the DVD holders from !!! How funny is that!!!
That looks like a file cabinet my DH got me from an office supply store for around $60 I think. Anyway mine works fine for my 8 x 10. It has room for at least 60 folders holding 24 pieces of paper or a little more.
If you do get it just make sure you only have 1 drawer open at a time. Mine tries to fall forward if I try to have both drawers open while deciding on which paper to use.
A4 is an ISO (international standard) size, which is used in countries that follow the metric system. It's roughly equivalent to 8.5x11, but the measurements are not quite the same.

Oh my gosh, your stamp room is amazing! So, those are all 8 1/2 by 11 drawers? They look bigger!
I use a file cabinet for my neutral/specialty papers. For my colored cardstock I store it in cereal boxes that have been cut down like a magzine holder and store those in a cupboard. (it's an odd little cupboard) Seeing as nobody sees them I did not cover the boxes... but if you wanted to you could prime and paint them to match the room... for when the cupboard is opened. I like to store my colors in the "shade".

PS> I know that was a super "cheep" solution, but with my supplies growing and storage needs changing monthly, I needed cheep and flexible. Once I decide if it's a keeper system I'll "buy" something that is more professional!
I purchased a cardboard filing system at my local office supply store. it has 21different slots. I think it was meant to be a an office mail divider. I think it was less than $30 when I bought it onsale and I love it. The divider fits snuggly on a shelf I purchased from Menards. i have the paper by color family, 4 colors to each slot, then in the extras I have a slot for white, glossy, neutrals, and catalogs. it works for me, but I don't have a cat to crawl up it.. just a big yellow dog that shakes her hair on it!!!

I do this as well. I buy the magazine holders at IKEA for $2.99 for 5. They are white cardboard. For my 12x12, I have the clear Cropper Hopper holders and also turn them on their side so I can grab a piece of paper out when I want it instead of having to move the entire holder.

Gosh, I must be the cheapest person here! lol I use the 12 X 10 X 6 boxes that my SU orders come in. I have all my CS in its own file folder and put the file folders standing up in the box. I have them sitting on one side of my L shaped desk. I have all my CS (48 colors, specialty paper and In Color) in three boxes.
