Default Need some ideas for gifts for 5th grade students

Hi everyone,

I hope you can help me...I am an elementary school speech-language therapist and I work with kids in grades K-5. I have a wonderful group of ten 5th graders this year (some of whom I worked with in 4th grade also) and I'd love to be able to give them each some type of hand made gift...it's a mixed group of boys and girls...the girls would be easy because I could make them journals or something "girly", but the boys are a little tougher.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions you have!

I did beaded pens for my 6th & 7th graders at Christmas and they loved them. I also did the mini-timbit boxes & filled with treats for Valentines which they also liked.

You're right-girls are easier. I have Girl Scouts (5th grade this year) and I try to make them a gift every year.

One year I made them clipboards:

You can pick these up for about a dollar each at Sam's club. A little acrylic paint (I asked them their favorite colors), some stamps, and some shiny gloss spray to seal. I made them all in a couple of days.

This year I'm making them frames, also painted, stamped, with paper, possibly with their names.

Hope this helps--
Julie

I made my class a few years ago autograph books since they would be moving on to middle school for 6th grade. They loved it and I know it's something that most of them still have.

my 4th grade son loves the writing journal we made for him. I used the stickers form an SU simply scrappin kit the colors were light blue, dark blue, orange and a little green. lots of arrows and stars. that age loves to draw and write stories. I say make journals for both sexes. I think that is a great gift from a teacher. I used a composition book.

What about bookmarks? My daughter is in 5th grade and I know she'd love that. Plus it reinforces reading as an activity!

Default You could..

make the pockets for the large candy bars. I made/stamped those for our nurses this year. They loved them.

The kids would so love to get a super huge candy bar inside a cool looking pocket!

I stamped some cardstock pieces to attach onto some mini composition notebooks I bought at the dollar store.. we put them each with a pencil I got from the golf course (they donated a whole box) along with some candy into baggies.. I handed them out this morning to each of the fourth and fifth graders at my kids school.. I told them to get others to write their phone numbers, addresses or email addresses in the books so that they could stay in contact with each other. We are on an Army base and many of the kids, including us.. are moving this summer ~ the kids loved them. I know I posted a picture on my blog last ngiht.. I don't think I posted it on SCS. I'll have to check.. it was late when I finished them last night.. I had wanted to cover the whole book, but I found out that today was the last day for several kids, so I had to do something quick.

Pam

*ps. I like the candy bar cover thing.. I need to make some of them.. next year.. I'll have a 5th and 6th grader.. my daughter graduates this year and my oldest is in the Air Force.. my how time flies when your having fun!
