Default New Colors - how often?

Talking with a friend over lunch about stamping (imagine that!!!) and she mentioned that she had some very old SU markers that she recently dug out of storage. She was surprised how many colors are still current, and it made us wonder how often SU retires colors.

Does anybody know when the last time they had a major color change like the one they did last year? I wouldn't think it is something they would do very often.

The one they did last year was the first one I know off. I think the last major overhaul before that was changing the style of the ink pads. Major improvement if you ask me. I know my answer wasn't what you were looking for but I don't know. I'm babbling.

Personally I hope they don't do it too often. Even though there are colors I'd like to see, I think that the transition is too hard on the pocketbook. The color wheel guide has to be replaced, pastels, ink pads, paper...

I've been a demo for 8 years and they've only done it twice. The first time was just 2 colors (creamy caramel and real red) and last year were quite a few. I don't see them doing it too often though, because it involves the ink, markers, paper, ink refills, ribbon, and on and on.

I agree. I've been associated with SU in one way or another since 1997. They had a yucky color, neon lime called Luscious Lime in the Earth Elements family (waaaay out of place). They replaced it with Creamy Caramel. At the same time, they had a color in Bold Brights called Rocket Red, but it was too orangey for me and for a lot of people, so they replaced it with Real Red. Those are the only color changes I'm aware of besides the recent big turnover.

Thanks for your input. I agree it would be a major pain to change colors often - especially for the demonstators who aren't to use discontinued products at workshops. I'm glad to hear that it isn't a frequent event!
