Default New here! Looking for SU advice

Hello! I was told to come here if I had questions. This looks like a fun site.. I'm anxious to look around.
Anyhow. I am planning on becoming a SU consultant in Sept.... It's something I've been interested in doing, many friends have asked me to teach scrapbooking classes, so I figure going this route would make me additional $$..

I am looking for anyone to tell me what you like about being a demonstrator and what you think are the pros cons to it.. Any advice would be great...
TIA

-Cheers!

Yes, read that thread - don't wait until September. I signed up two years ago and got this same deal... it was awesome to start out with.

Last August I ran a series of articles on my blog about being an SU. If you are interested you can find them here:

You should be able to ask the gal you plan to sign up under - and her upline, too. This site can be a source of great information, but don't let it stand in place of a "real" person in front of you! She will be able to answer your questions that suit you best. All areas of the country are a bit different (if you are even in the US).

I have been a demonstrator for 12 years and love it! You can make money at it - I make a very decent income. But if you are doing it to earn, it does mean it will take work!

Here's the thread I started asking the same question before I joined in January:

I have to say I am so glad I joined! Never regretted it for a minute!

I was a Stampin' Up demonstrator for about 5 years. They are a wonderful company and have fabulous products. Very high quality! I left to pursue different goals. I did not want to violate the terms of my contract with them so I had to leave because of my plans to design my own stamps and start my own company.

Stampin' Up is very generous to their demonstrators. I earned several cruises, lots of free "stuff" and had a wonderful time at every convention I went to.

Being a demonstrator helped me save some money on all the products I wanted to purchase from the catalog and then hosting my own parties allowed me to get the extra free stuff. I also made some money teaching classes.

Many people complain about Stampin' Up- their policies, their products, prices, shipping costs, etc... but really, (And read this twice-)

If I wanted to, I could find something wrong with every single rubber stamping company out there or I could find something great about every single rubber stamping company out there.

Here what it all boils down to. Are you half-full or half-empty? If you are half -full, you will concentrate on the positives and be successful. If you are half empty, you'll spend a lot of time complaining, (time you could be spending stamping!) LOL!

There are some great people who are SU demo's like Debbie Olson, Amy Rysavy, Erika Martin, and so many more!!! (please don't be offended if I didn't mention your name, I know there are probably 50,000 of you wonderful and dedicated demos out there.) These ladies are very positive people. They see the glass half-full.

If you love SU, go for it. If it doesn't work out, the worst thing that will have happened is that you'll have a lot of great products that you didn't pay full price for. If it is for you, the possibilites of success are endless. (Yes, I won a few recruiting awards too.LOL!)

I wish you luck with your decision.:-D

Hugs to you all and all my SU demo friends. Just got my new in-colors! They rock!!

I don't regret one minute of becoming a demo, one of the best things I ever did, and brings so much enjoyment to my life!
