I checked out the gallery for new things coming, and unless things change, this will be yet another catalog I don't need anything out of. My stamps will come from other co.'s.
I think I've just lost the "whatever for SU".
Now we will wait and see what punches they have, and of course the new in colors and new paper. Other than that,(maybe) I really don't see anything of interest to me.
Anybody else feel llike this? Or am I just plain old crazy?

Grannypat, I am with you. Unless there is something staggeringly beautiful in the new catalogue, I will peruse the punches and maybe some odds and ends but nothing much stampwise. That being said, I want to be surprised!
If you love the detailed style stamps and are inclined towards the Christian\scripture influence, check out Our Daily Bread Designs. My money is going there when I can afford some new ones.
I am not impresed with the stamp sets in the preview however I am still looking forward to the new catty. I am sure there are all kinds of new goodies in there despite the disappointment of the preview. I am definitely getting the new IN colors. I can't wait to have some new colors to play with.
I'm always excited about what Stampin' Up! has to offer and always find some things I can't live without....however....I've stepped out of my Stampin up box and really love some of the stamps offered by other companies. My weakness so far is Papertrey ink, I have an order ready to go this week (on payday of course) and I'm lovin all the Amuse stamps as well. I just wish I could find all these stamps locally so hubby won't have to see the credit card bill and I can just pay cash
It's early to be judgemental of a whole new catalog based on a few sets in a preview. There always is something that one might not like.. then there are always some awesome samples made and you got to have the sets. The sets in the preview aren't really my favorites.. but I know there will be many in the new catalog that I will love.. as always.

Preview isn't a very good indication of what will be in the new catalog since there are only a couple new sets in there. I am sure there will be something for every style there normally is.
I have to admit, I'm liking the previews. The Bella Rosa paper looks awesome. I know I'm going to be buying some of that. It appears there are going to be circle-type stamps that can be used with our circle punches. I LOVE circle stamps. The little girl and kitty sitting in the window is very cute. I'm now really looking forward to the new catty.

Thanks for the link!
I must admit that I didn't get much from the current catty.
BUT: I LOVE what I've seen in this preview!! Now I can't wait for the new catty!
Vronica;)
I think a lot of us are disenchanted with the fact that SU wont offer unmounted options. I love having the unmounted stamps. I have a tight stamping budget and must get all that I can out of my dollar. I love their cardstock of course. Will always go with that. Love the inks and the punches... so that usually what I concentrate on.
There were 96 stamps/sets that retired and only 4 in the preview. That should leave you some hope! (I did not count hostess sets as they retire for each catalog).
I like, not love, some of the sets in the preview, such as the sock monkey. I'm interested in what the actual pricing will be, especially since they are all die-cut now. Anyone know?

I always find something I need, tho last yr it was not as much as years past. I do plan to stick with this yrs In Colors-cause the new ones don't do a thing for me and as to punches-I think nesties are more bang for your buck, unless it's some totally awesome shape I just have to have to go with a stamp set:rolleyes:

Yes, die cut is a huge improvement-I had sets that still aren't mounted (Hangs head in shame)
As the old saying goes, don't throw the baby out with the bath water! I've seen some new sets from the upcoming catty that were not included in the preview, and they were lovely. Mind you, SU will never be all things for all people. Personally, if they wen't to unmounted, I doubt I'd be interested. I'd rather own less stamps than sub-par quality stamps...give me my wood and ease of use any day!
The new accessories look great, and I'm excited to see what new stamp styles SU will have to offer.

They are not sub par... My stampin up sets are unmounted. What I was saying is give people the option to have them unmounted or mounted. Still the same set and quality I just prefer mine unmounted for storage ease. But I was pretty dissapointed with the last 2 catalogues...

The pricing is similar to what they Holiday mini was last year, over priced BECAUSE of the die cutting.
I agree that they need to offer the stamps with or without the wood. In fact, they sent out a survey the day of the pre-order to demos and I made sure to mention this.
In the past year my buying from SU went from hundreds per MONTH to nothing. I will be really surprised if the new catty has something I can't live without.
I still love SU and am excited about the die cut sets too! I'm sure I'll find plenty to get in the new catty and am looking forward to the scallop punch and the new in-colors!

You know, Joan B mentioned last week that the new SU sets have the look of SU...just like Lockhart stamps look like Lockhart, and amuse looks like amuse, etc. If you like the SU look (which I always have), great! If not, there are lots of other companies to fill the void.
Correct me if I'm wrong, because Itry to understand the unmounting argument:
1.) Want the option of just not getting the wood blocks included
2.) want it to be cheaper because they don't need the wood
3.) Want the EZ mount stuff or blocks offered separately
Is this right? Because it sounds like there are lots of people who've already unmounted their SU stamps in some way, shape or form.
I unmount my SU stamps for storage and because I like to "see" where they go when I stamp. I was reluctant to get rid of wood mounts at first but now wouldn't have it any other way.
Other brands that are unmounted have the same good quality, long lasting stamps with great images. There are a ton of these companies out there! And I'm not talking clear stamps either (though I like em too). Stampin up may be one of the most successful but definitely not the only high quality company out there.
As for why we want unmounted, it would lower prices but also eliminate wood being wasted... I don't know about anyone else but I have a TON of wood blocks lying around that would be put to good use by someone who likes wood mounts. I do make projects with them but still, it'd save money and trees.
That said, I want the sock monkey and love the dream du jour set (I think that's what it was called?) but the die cutting makes it a little harder to mount on ez mount because you waste more cling foam!

I really wish TAC would offer a wood mounted option, some of their little words are so cute but I prefer wood mounted.
I really wish CTMH had rubber, ANY kind of rubber, 'cause I've got little sausage fingers and I always end up mushing something to wrong way. And I misplace wood mounted stamps sometimes. I'm a real mess with the clear ones.
But they don't, so when I find something I like, I either deal with it or I don't get it. Because I don't expect one company to be all things to all people.
This arguement comes up all the time, I guess I just don't understand why people don't expect other companies to be everything they want.
You know, I have always been disappointed in the preview sets!! I would always think, "I'm not going to like this catty at all"...and then I see it and there are lots of gorgeous new stamps in there!! I've always thought Stampin' Up!'s selection of stamps to preview has been a little "odd"...and in my opinion had much prettier stamps to offer. So, if the past is anything to go on...the catalog is probably going to be brimming with gorgeous new sets! (Not to mention those BEAUTIFUL new IN Colors!!!)
I checked out the gallery too and rather than start another thread I thought I could pose the question here. Under New Catalog Previews, there is a thumbnail that seems to be the owl set that was shown from the cruise. But there are no designation for the owl set in the gallery. Am I missing something?? Why would the thumbnail shown for a category be of a card that isn't in the gallery? I'm cornfruseded.

It's a new set that may not have any cards made with it yet, perhaps. I don't really know since I don't spend much time in the gallery anymore...I know, lol, bad girl!

Oh, not necessarily, lol! I often trim a little more when I get die-cut sets, especially some of the rounded shapes. I like my stamps REALLY close cut, and sometimes diecutting leaves too much rubber.

Phantom,
Here's a link to the Owl Together gallery; they've already put it in the alphabetical gallery listing (O-Q SU! Sets).
