Default New product - bleach like stamp pad Castaway

I just found this product and it looks pretty neat. Does anyone have one yet and/or tried one?

The Castaway ink pad:

I've never seen one either, but I agree that it looks interesting.

That's pretty cool looking. I wonder if it's archival safe? Might just have to stick to cards with that one. Looks like fun

i think its a new product being scheduled for release either april or may. suppose to be the same effect as bleach but doesn't use bleach and doesn't smell. I haven't found it for sale when I was looking for it 2 weeks ago. haven't tried since though

It's a shame it doesn't work without being heated with an iron, don't know if I can be bothered with ironing a card all the time.

Don't you think that it would set normally with a heat tool instead of an iron? I don't see that it would matter as long as it's a high-heat, no moisture heat source.

There already are itty bitty irons to go with it... :-D

http://www.keepsakequilting.com/KQSh...bject=&catpos=

I wonder how safe it is for the stamp itself since whatever it is made of takes the color out of the paper

Default I Have It !

I have castaway ink pads and I have used them. It leaves the coolest effect on the paper....kinda like batik.
A few hints.
Let it soak into the paper for a few minutes before you iron for the best image.
It does have a bit of an odd smell, for those of you who are sensitive.
Not all papers react the same. so do a test piece first.
It does not harm your rubber. But I would clean up right away just to be sure.
It works on silk scarves and cotton T-shirts too !

I love this stuff !

I think because the product has to be heated in order for it to strip the colour from paper, so long as you don't iron your stamp before cleaning it it shouldn't harm the stamp.

I'm so sensitive to the fumes, I rarely do any techniques that involve bleach.

I hafta admit, while it sounds intriguing, I just use my White or Vanilla Craft pad for a similar bleached effect. I'm far too lazy to drag out an iron . . .

Wow - talk about an itty bitty iron! I've got this one:

http://www.wilde-ideas.com/Vndrs/Herr/CraftIron_ex.html

I like it cuz it has no holes on the bottom and it's really easy to do wax paper technique, melted crayon or flatten out some ribbon.

I went ahead and ordered the castaway pad. Fran was already sending me a package so I should just have her throw one in there since it's still open right

Default Very interesting....

I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for this one. Although this time I'm not going to go crazy like I did for my stampnstick pad. Took forever to find one and then I wasn't super impressed.

Default Please keep us updated!

Jodi,

Please write back when you get the pad and tell us how you like it. I'm really interested in seeing if it's good and if it would work with a heat gun. Always on the lookout for new toys!
