It does come out in August BUT I don't know why either but I didn get a sneek peak at some of the NEW stuff in the catty and OMG lets just say I'm excited!!!
Yes, my demo told us last night at Stamp Camp that the release is being pushed back into August because of the new 2 catalog format and also so that the demos attending convention at end of the month will get the benefit of seeing the new stuff first.
She did show us some sneak previews of some of the new stamp sets.
Can I tell you the sock monkey set will be on my first order.....!!!!

Sock Monkey is too cute.. I saw it this morning and love it!!
Its coming out in August because they changed the dates with the 2 catalog system. So this one got pushed out longer than usual.
It'll help too b/c the Fall-Winter catalog won't end right at Christmas and New Year's time - it'll stay current through some of January. In the end, I think it'll be a better schedule overall.
The retiring accessories list will be posted July 21. Obviously, anything with the In Colors will retire. Plus, we know the current finishes of Hodgepodge Hardware will retire as well (and right now they are 25% off).
The Fall/Winter catalog will go until mid January. The new Spring/Summer catalog will be unveiled at Leadership which is January 8-9, 2009.
January 19th is the first day to order from the next Spring/Summer Idea Book and catalog.
The retired accessory list will be posted July 21.
Oops--I took a while to type my response so I didn't see your answer before I posted. But, do you know for sure Jan 19 is the date? I don't recall seeing it posted and I'm fairly certain it will be unveiled at Leadership. I was thinking it would be more Jan 12.
After thinking about the new schedule I think it's best. The spring catty coming out in December with a retiring list, new colours etc. was a bit much for that time of year. January is much better.
Apparently sales weren't that great with the release of the last S/S catalog and timing was considered to be part of the problem. The F/W was moved to August so that convention-goers would receive it first, as apparently that is something that's been done in the past and it's part of honoring the 20th anniversary. And that move to August is coupled with changing the next S/S catalog to being released later so both catalogs will be around for the same length of time. It's a shift in the timeline.
I hoped that helped. I am amazed that I managed to do that without interjecting my own personal opinion on the changes ... not even once!
