I am a Minnesota native soon to move to Green Valley, Az in Oct. Of course all my stamping supplies ( 6 HUGE Boxes) are going with me. I am interested in making my Christmas cards, but need a Southwestern Christmas idea. Can anyone help me.
Thanks
Sue G
I think it's Copper Leaf that has a saguaro stamp with lights on it and a chilli pepper wreath and prickly pear wreath. Stamp A Mania also carries some southwestern Christmas stamps.
I recently moved from Anchorage, Alaska (was there 27 years) to Casa Grande, AZ (we're now neighbors). Last December I used the melted snowman from the retired Thanks Snow Much set and then put in this poem that I cased from SCS. Not sure who to give credit to.
Winter Wonderland, Arizona Style
Palm trees wave, are ya listening?
In the pool, waters glistening.
A beautiful site, were happy tonight,
Livin in an AZ Wonderland.
Gone away is the blizzard,
Here to stay is the lizard.
A warm sunny day, we like it that way,
Livin in an AZ Wonderland.
In the desert we will have a picnic,
Cactus, rattlesnakes, sand, and sun.
Christmas dinner is an old tradition,
Its pinto beans and tacos by the ton.
Later on well perspire,
As temperatures rise even higher.
A warm sunny day, we like it that way,
Livin in an AZ Wonderland.
Is that Green Valley or Verde Valley? We used to live in Flagstaff, and I miss it SO MUCH! There is a great stamp store in old town Scottsdale..they have lots of SW stamps (sorry can't remember the name, maybe Frenzied Stamper???)...wish I could be there to stamp "southwest style" w/ you!
Sue - I can't help you with any ideas for a Christmas card from Arizona. However, my dear, dear stampin buddy, I can tell you how much I am going to miss stampin (and working) with you.
If any of you stamp in Green Valley, Arizona, having Sue there will be your gain. It sure is Minnesota's loss. Sue, I am crying already!
I understand what you're going through! I'm a native Minnesotan and I'm moving to Vermont in 3 weeks! I'm thinking of getting one of these stamps for my Christmas cards (probably for the outside flap of the envelope):
Sue -- As a transplant going the other way (relatively native Arizonian comin' up North to the frozen tundra!), I bid you non-snowy holidays filled with cactus and sagebrush! Not quite the same as being burried in a foot of snow, but you do get used to it! I do miss my mountains, but I love the seasons up here even more! Green Valley - that's the land of the retired folks - I used to live in Tucson, so I know all about Green Valley! Safe and happy travels to you - let us know how you're settlin' in!
P.S. I think that AZ Wonderland poem is hysterical!! We never did Christmas dinner of pinto beans and tacos, but it sure is funny!

I live near Tucson...very seldom do I get a chance to use snowmen stamps! One year I did a card with the snowman and said "I'm DREAMING of a WHITE Christmas" ('cause that's as close as I get to the real thing!). So you could certainly use some of your current stamps and just put a spin on them. Or once you get out here you can find plenty of SouthWestern stamps. There is a stamp store in Tucson called Stampin' Insanity on Grant Road. There is also a scrapbooking store at 1st and Wetmore that carries a fair amount of stamps. I personally have only been to the one on Grant once and they were so rude I've never been back. The people who own the SBing store are super nice.
