This set is being given to demos that attend Regional SU conferences. One of the perks of attendance is receiving a set that will not be available to the general public until the next issue of the big catalog.
Demos are not allowed to sell any stamps but retired sets outside of purchases made through Stampin Up. This seller is either a demo (likely, since she's also including a Stampin Techniques booklet) or a "friend" of a demo who received it as a gift from a demo.
*maybe* it was purely out of curiousity...on the upside the gal is getting tons of bids...heck, I would bid. (sorry, totally inappropiate but I had to say it)
There are forever going to be those that either claim not to know the rules (which would be their own fault) or those that don't care about the rules. Either way, its their business and who are we to tattle on them. I am quite sure by now SU! watches the bay...
JMHO, I am definitely not trying to get anyone upset about it...seriously, who cares? We can't chase all the bad gals/guys unless we let it consume our lives.
Yes, they do watch ebay but they've also asked demos to help. I'm a demo and I'm going to help.

what if it's a set she doesn't like. Why keep it when you can sell it and make some money. I'm not a demo, by any means. But why should she keep a set if it's not her style.

I don't think that they are going to send out the posse to track down the demo this seller got it from- if it isn't a demo that is actually selling it in the first place. I know that SU! is hot on this right now though- I paid for regionals then ended up in the hospital. SU! would NOT send me the supplies even though I had pre-registered and paid. They said that the only way you can get the set and supplies is to actually show up- you can't even have another regional-goer pick it up for you. They were gracious enough to refund me the $75 though.

I agree on this one....I can barely keep track of my kids and what their doing let alone what someone else is doing!
I find it interesting what some people will pay for this stuff on ebay though:confused:
Still Curious. Can SU actually do anything about the listing if the seller is not a demo?
Probably not. But if she is a demo they can revoke her contract.

A demo's contract precludes selling new sets by any other means than parties, workshops, stamp camps and clubs. Demos may only sell retired sets through other means such as auctions.
Good for you Melissa! I have found in the past that even when notified nothing really is accomplished but if you have saw results, I say go for it! I am no longer a demo so I wouldn't know if SU! was asking for help or not. Good Luck!

I think it's a cute set and it's going on my "gotta have it" list. But I will wait for my new catty to arrive from my demo and then order it through her.
As a former SU demo I would report as many violators as I saw on Ebay, but I never saw anything happen to these sellers. They are still there, selling away and probably enjoying all the perks that go with being a top seller. I'm no longer a demo because I couldn't continue to make the minimums out of my own wallet. ~~~ something wrong with this picture ~~~~

She also has Flower Filled up for sale and it's on mint green rubber which means it was given out at Convention (I have the same thing) so I would guess she's a demo.
Let's give "her" the benefit of the doubt". This is a set that was given to demos attending a regional conference and this set will be in the July catalog. Now, I attended regionals way back in September and right after there were demos looking to trade that set - which I am sure they did. So lets assume that "she" traded the set to someone she does not know (which she is allowed to do) and that someone is now selling it on ebay. I just traded a bunch of sets to very nice ladies on here and now they have them and what they do with them is their business.
Now I am a total stickler for the rules - you can just ask another demo I totally went off on for keeping the second Paisley set she got as a gift from SU and is now trying to trade for it instead of returning it to SU - but sometimes we all need to take a deep breath and not assume the worst.
And I totally agree with Sara. I have never in my life been a demo but I am swimming in technique booklets because I have hosted a plethora if parties and they always send more than a person needs. That doesn't mean anything!

Ther is also thepossibility that she was a guest. At some regionals demos are allowed to bring non-demo guests, right? And if these guests pay I assume they would also get the free set? So maybe she was a guest and just did not care for this style.
I too am a stickler for rules, but I try to keep an open mind and assume people are innocent until proven guilty.

I had to laugh, picturing someone sneaking it out of the factory or something! I was glad when she said they gave it out at Regionals!!! I was thinking of WIlly Wonka and the bad guy trying to sneak out an Everlasting Gobstopper!
