sorry this is so late, but with Sell-A-Bration and wrestling season, I have been very busy! I know, I know, what else is new!
Well, this month, even though it is half over, we will look at how we can organize all the techniques and patterns that we print out.
Currently, I have a book that has WAY too much stuff in it. Every time I want a particular pattern I have to go through all of them to find the one I am looking for. And you know Murphy's Law, it is always 3 from the bottom. Never the last because we always look there!
So, what are your solutions to this dilemma? You ladies have been very creative in your stoage ideas so far!
Curious what everyone comes up with. I was wondering if anyone has made any lists of techniques by supply items. What I mean is a list of all techniques using glossy paper, or brayer, etc. That way we know if we have the supplies before even desiding to use that technique.
Here is a short, incomplete example of what I am looking for:

I keep my templates in a hanging file bin that I bought at an office supply store. I try to keep them organized by catagory (i.e. unique card patterns, baskets, purses, boxes, etc.) As far as techniques go, I just have one long file on my computer - not terribly organized, but I can use the "find" feature to locate the technique I'm wanting most of the time.
Mine go into notebooks with a sticky note attached so I know what it is. These are alphabetized and go into the notebooks which go on a shelf. When I need something, I go to that notebook look for the sticky note, and pull it out. Simple and easy to find!

I've "started" (you know that really means I've purchased the book only) a techniques 6x6 with the idea of doing a technique on one side with the instructions on the back. I've seen one of these done before and it is great especially to show your customers all of the fun things you can do! And of course, you can just add and add and add ...
I store everything I can on my computer. If I find a pattern I want to try or teach, I store it in the "templates & instructions" folder on my computer. Then I need only print it when I'm going to use it.

I like that, I have a really cute 4x6 book that's too small to scrapbook with unless you only use wallet size pics...I think I'll try this with it.
THANKS!
I have printed a TON of stuff from this site. And being the obsessed organizer that I am I have it neatly organized so that I can find what I am looking for relatively easily. Well, that sounds good, anyway. It is MOSTLY organized and filed. Everything is in ring binders or smaller pocket and prong portfolios, and filed in page protectors. Here's what I have done.
1. I hate working on the computer so I printed off my favorite cards for all my stamp sets. They are on sheets with instructions in binders. Don't ask how many binders, please!
2. One binder has stuff made from paper that has more voluminous (big word) instructions. Like more complex cards with instructions and templates, explosion boxes, nugget boxes, card folios, goodie bags and boxes, you know what I mean.
3. One binder has 3-D things and gifts. Like candles, etc
4. For my techniques I have them in smaller binders because I ran out of matching ones. They are sorted by: Background papers techniques (like rolling marbles, bubbles, polished stone, etc); Techniques involving stamps (like acetate, faux linen, retiform, etc); Techniques involving Heat Embossing (like josephs coat, emboss resist, etc); and Techniques involving Dry Embossing. So far every technique I have found fits in one of these categories.
5. I have a binder for color. This has color charts, RGB codes, Prismacolor charts, all those color comparison charts you find on SCS, etc.
6. I have smaller binders for "ways to use it" types of things. One for ways to use tools (like air art gun, crimper, stampamajig, etc); one for ways to use embellishments; one for ways to use supplies (glossy cardstock, reinkers, etc)
