Default Occupational hazard...mounting injury

There I was last night in my mounting stamps glory, all excited about my new stamps! Unfortunately I was too lazy to go to my stamp room to get the correct tools for the job, and I used some generic but, sharp scissors to mount my stamps. It worked well, excpet I had to use a little more force to cut than I would with my SU! scissors and there was no cushion on the handle. I had completed 3 sets including a mini alphabet (grrrrrr ) and was on my last set when it happened....

I went to cut down and the sharpest pain ran up my thumb and my thumb went numb!!!! I dropped the scissors immediately and rubbed thumb...but it was still numb. So I put everything away for the night and went to bed. And can you believe that still today my thumb is still numb?!?!?! Has this ever happened to anyone else!?!? This is my stamping thumb....I need it!!!!

I used to get this when I cut alot. It used to be cutting material to make something or altering clothing. I never had the numbness last more than a few minutes tho!

Cool Um..... what could possibly have been mounting?!?

Better get seatbelts.

I know from experience because I fell off and broke my thumb. But don't tell my kids or grandkids. I told I had a bad dream and fell out of bed.

sounds like the start of Carpel Tunnel,,, it usually starts with a minor injury,,,
Take care of it, ice it and try not to over use it,,,

I got mine from using a box cutter blade to slice and remove carpet, and after a few hours I had a terrible pain, numbness and tingling,,, one year later, and it is so bad I can hardly type.

I take pain killers nightly to sleep, and tomorrow I am having a wrist finger brace made. I damaged some nerves. My elbow hurts and upper arm to,,,

Good luck to ya,,,,,,,

PS... I just drink a few shots of corn whiskey before I want to stamp,,, it kinda dulls the pain,,,, LOL

I was going to ask...but then I thought to myself.

Self, what if was a occupational injury!?!?....would I want to know that!! I think not! lol.....

My DH just thinks this is hilarious!!! He just called from work to make sure I was okay to make dinner ;) So I thought for a second and said "you better bring dinner home with you" If he is gonna pick on me I mine as well milk it for all it is worth!!!

Which brings up another good point!! If others have hurt their thumbs 'mounting' I better stay away from that for awhile, so my thumb can heal...let's see what DH thinks about THAT!!!!

Now who is laughing!?!?!?!

I never pinched the nerve in my thumb, but I pinched the one in my big toe bad during the first week of geology field camp (dumb shoes!). I don't know if I exacerbated it because I couldn't stay off it or what, but I had numbness in my toe for several months... I did go to the doctor, and he couldn't really do anything for it...

Good luck!

I cut a nerve on the top of my big toe years ago. Dropped an open handheld rotary cutter and it landed just right. Still have a numb spot.

 I never got a dinner out of it.

I beg to differ...your occupation is "mother", isn't it?! I'd say that was an "on the job" injury! LOL!!!

Cool

I did the same thing you did (cutting of course!) and my thumb and third finger were numb for a month. I have had Carpal Tunnel for a long before this but it was what made me finally go to the surgeon. I just had the release done 2 days ago. Don't mess with my stamping!!!!! I also got a blister on my finger after stamping my Christmas cards last year lol I didn't realize stampng was so dangerous.
