Hmm! That is the one that was mailed to my email by the banned stamper.
Thanks for sharing. I just purchased a few sets on the list. I need to look over it again, but I think Wonderful Wings is the only one I need to decide if it is a must have or if I can wait and see if something better comes out in the new catty! You ladies are just getting my heart pumping for when the new Baskets are revealed at convention. I am sure it is just as exciting at your conventions!
Thanks for sharing. My demo is still out of commision after her surgery.
So, can anyone explain WHY the header of that page is the same as that for the page announcing the 50 percent off list a few months ago?
"50 Percent Off Current Catalog Sets - Microsoft Internet Explorer"
You know? That blue bar at the top of the page that gives the name of the page? Do you think it's possible someone has "captured" an old web page, edited the content, and is giving people the link to that?
Somehow, I'm just NOT sold on this one...sorry, guys!
My guess is that this is the retired list and that the 50% off thing you are seeing is meta-data that SU just didn't change. I'm sure they are using a template to post and they just didn't change the meta data. "Capturing" an old web page editing content is easy. But someone would have to re-upload it to the SU server for it to be at that address which is highly unlikely.
i said it in the demo area and i'm gonna say it here. i'm not gonna believe it till i get the OFFICIAL word from su. i know this goes to the su website but there are too many errors for me to believe it is real. there is no copyright information. there is no (r) symbol after the name Stampin' Up! there are incorrect dates on page two. there is no "updated 05/05" type message.
If you print the flyer, you can see the (r) on the logo.
I am wondering what "all the mistakes' are. I mean, I tried to order Little Helloes from the catty index only to find the number was invalid. I had to get the correct number from the actual page. Everyone makes typos.
I, too, logged on to the SU! demo site and there is nothing there at all regarding the retiring sets. True, it looks official, but I will take a deep breath and wait until tomorrow to compare the lists.

the (r) is on the logo, but not after the name in the paragraph. i'm actually not worried about an incorrect item number because that does happen. i am more concerned with things that are ALWAYS on official SU flyers that are NOT on this one (re: copyright info, (r) after the name in the paragraph, the 'updated 05/05') and that the dates on page 2 are wrong.

Just out of curiosity, why are people so eager to know ahead of time what stamps are to be retired? Why not just wait until the list is officially available?
It seems to me that one thing that is different from the retirement list last year is that it is in alphabetical order instead of page order. Thats the first thing I noticed. I remember going through page by page and if this list is official we'll be jumping all over the catty.

If it's real...
I'm only losing 3 of my 50 current sets! Fall Fun, Classic Convertibles and Stipple Plaid!!! Last year I lost 21 sets so I'm very happy this year. I can't wait until tomorrow to "confirm" the list!
PS I also noticed that the dates on page 2 are wrong. Kinda makes ya wonder!

Yes, but it is a flyer to send to customers. To me, an alphabetical listing is more useful since I am not going through my catty page by page to make future plans.
As to the dates being "wrong," I don't think they are. Maybe it is some kind of May promo they will run? Maybe they have an ad campaign in the SB and Stamping magazines that will tie into? And my winter mini has Stampi' Up ! in the copy in at least one place where the registered trademark symbol is missing and the stamping techniques booklet, too. As well as the Ronald MacDonald House page on the SU website.
I agree with the "children of the corn" set being a waste of catalog space! LOL Whichever is the right retirement list, I just can't believe they are keeping that one! Sorry if someone out there loves it...but nobody in my SU circle of friends here likes it at all!
Hi all, I'm just wondering if any of you non demos after accessing the link are able to see around the demo section of su's site? Or is it just the retiring list? Just curious
I'm a lurker, but wanted to mention that if you go to the website at www.stampinup.com the same /web2001/ shows up in the browser window (I think that's what it is) it just says default.asp for the home page, so it sure seems like this is legit.

I do alot of web design / developement etc. It is not uncommon to have items out on the server that there are no "active" links to... this is done to test pages / proof pages / sample etc. The thinking is... if there are no "active" links a customer can not find them. However; sometimes customers do find these pages.
Often times these pages are announcing a sale or a promotion and a customer will find the page and demand the special pricing etc.
Most B2B companies wait till odd hours say 11pm - 3am to do official releases... this is when traffic is typically the lightest and no major business would be lost if the release of new code / pages brought the site down.
When we had a promotion that would start on a Sunday... we often would do mini releases (releasing a few ages at a time) with no "active" links...in the evenings leading up to the weekend. This way we could be assured the pages were sound with no errors nor corruptions.... that way only the pages with the "active" link had to be relased on the weekend... this way we hedge our bets the release would go without a hitch and the whole team was not spending the entire Sunday looking for the bug that made the site go "wonkers"... if a problem arose.
Just my web perspective... on why there are sometimes things on a site early.
Have a great weekend,
Kathleen (Kack)

Reason: can't type nor spell!
I just compared my list. I got 80 right out of 139. Now I'm checking to see what all these sets look like...
I'm most disappointed about WG2 and Wonderful Wings. :(
I too, am dissappointed to see Wonderful Wings go. Also Coast to Coast. Although I was not surprised about either. I am just glad to see that Lovely as A Tree is not on the list. I have been sweating that one.

It is like opening Christmas presents on Christmas eve. Just kind of nice to know. I am always eager to get the list as it usually brings in quite a bit of business for me.
I am surprised to see that none of the 1/2 price sets are on the retirement list! There are only 2 sets that were already on my wish list. Watercolor Garden II and Coast to Coast. I was planning to get them in May anyway.
Looks like the early list that was posted is the same one posted on the site today, so I guess they had it right! lol
I'm not trying to be controversial, either {{{REALLY }}} but I just can't figure out why these apparent anomolies (sp?) and how cum we can get to this page without our demo sign on. I'm still gonna wait til tomorrow for my garage sale/tears/celebration!
Although it is a moot point right now because the actual list is posted.....What it seems may have happened is that the web designer may have uploaded the retired list over where the 50% off list was in the past....since that was no longer needed. He may have been doing this to check that it displays correctly, etc. Then - this morning they uploaded the page where it was supposed to be. Did that make sense?
Can I ask yet another stupid question? Do they replace sets with similar themed sets? So for example Born to Ride and Classic Convertibles are retiring, will SU replace them with some other transport sets or is it completely random?
It all depends on the designers, but they usually try to replace one type of a themed set with another. There will be another Ronald McD House set, I'm pretty sure.
I just printed the list off - going now to see which ones I have...quick look - just got Coast to Coast (don't care - still love lighthouses, so I'll use it for personal stuff), Crayon Fun, Beautiful Batik, Stipple Shells, On the Beach...OK starting to panic now...

Are the sets on the retirement list limited? Will they possibly run out of a particular set or will they fill every order? In other words, how soon should I order anything on the retirement list?
If you go to Stampin' Up's web page, there's a link to it. It looks official to me. It looks like all their other links, and it's a flier for demos to send their customers. I was under the impression that the list came out on May 1. I'm going with it. I don't remember seeing it last year for customers on their web page, but maybe it was. I'm wondering if this is a mistake (like having the spring mini catty on the web page before the Salebration was over).
The other way I'm pretty sure it's accurate is that most of what I own (that didn't retire last year) retired this year! Happens every year!

Ok - I think MamaK rocks. She works so hard for us and isn't even a demo! Isn't it fun to know there were many of us who knew what to expect before this morning? Thanks for posting.
