My Aunt Thead is my biggest fan/cheerleader when it comes to my stamping and cardmaking hobby. She recently asked me to make her some Christmas cards, and has since been asking for more cards for specific occassions. Today she mailed me an invitation to a surprise open house for a friend who has worked for the same lumber company for 50 years. The invitation has a picture of him at work on it, and she wants me to make a card with the picture of him. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do!! The picture is quite large, and it will lose a lot of quality if I try to scan it and reduce it, so I have to use it "as is." I'll probably have to make a larger, greeting card size card. Anyone got any suggestions? PLEASE!?!?!?!?!?! I have to have this done and in the mail back to her by Monday morning. Thanks!
Also search for "photo card" or "photo frame" in the gallery. Of course if you have the stamp set with the tools -- hammer and saw etc -- you could add those as embellishments on a corner.
Perhaps you could scan the picture and crop some of the background to make it a bit smaller. Making the picture a little smaller with a high resolution shouldn't lose too much detail...you can always try it and if it doesn't work out, no big deal.
Karen Foster has some brads that look like screw heads - 40 come in a pack (10 small standard /10 small phillips head and the same in a larger variety.)
How 'bout using them to attach the picture?
You could always add a bit of ribbon or if you'd like a bit more masculine use, hemp, twine, cording, raffia, etc.
Do you have a photo editing program perhaps you could change the photo to sepia tones or even where it looks sketched
Verbage could go along the lines of hanging up his toolbelt.

Just a thought.

You definately won't lose quality if you do this. I work for a magazine, and we frequently have to increase the resolution (and thus the photo gets smaller).
I went to a local scrapbook store after work tonight, and they had a lot of Karen Foster stuff, but no brads that look like screws. I was upset, because I was sure they would have them. Unfortunately, I don't have a whole lot of time to shop around, and our county fair starts tomorrow, and I have lots to do there. I did get some brads that are just a dull silver, so I thought they'd pass for nails. Found some stickers of tools, too but don't think I'll use them as I think they'll "junk up" the card. I was thinking of matting the picture and hanging it with hemp from the brad! Thanks everyone for the ideas! I'll post a pix of the card when I get it done!

OK, here is the card I came up with. I uploaded it today (Sunday) but I know it won't be approved until tomorrow. Kind of forgot about it being Sunday until I was almost done with the process. Not sure if I like it or not, but at least it's done!
