I just got my PaperCrafts Magazine in the mail with an offer to renew my subscription for 16.98. I *almost* sent in the card to renew. I went through the whole magazine in about 5 minutes. It has really cute stuff in it, BUT.........
Then I came in to *finally* go through the new DD gallery, and after about 20 minutes, and still having tons to look at, I thought to myself, "WHAT are you NUTS?!?!?!?"
Why on earth would I send 16.98 to PaperCrafts when I can get everything here on SCS for free?!?!?! And there is about a gazillion times more to benefit from here!!!
I am a DD Fan Club member. I donated way before we even knew what we were going to get in return, so I don't *have* to make a donation, but DARNIT, I want to make even a small gesture to show my appreciation for all that goes on behind the scenes to keep this site running smoothly.
SO..........I just hit the PayPal donation button on the home page of SCS and gave the 16.98 I would have sent PaperCraft Magazine to the folks here at SCS, and I feel so good about it!
I hereby challenge all of you to do the same thing. If everybody would just donate the amount of ONE of the magazines you would pick up this month, I'm sure it would help tremendously to defray the cost of running SCS.
I am going to keep nagging until we get a good response to this challenge!
I made a donation today too! I agree with how much you get from this site and it's not a half a magazine that you paid for ads! I had just posted a message about the same thing! Great idea to make it a challenge!
Onward $ Upward!
Okay everyone.....I know that most of you will be purchasing at least one stamping magazine this month.....
How about taking the $$ you would have spent on that magazine and making a contribution to SCS??
I can't even imagine that expense that goes into running this site, and we all love it so much!

You got me! I am in....I too spend many many dollars on magazines and flip through them and that's it. Your little analogy helped push me over the "Fan Club" edge! Thanks!
I sent my paypal today! Now I am waiting to get access.......stalking my computer, kinda like when I stalk the UPS man!
I'm tryin', really I am!!!
I tried to join both yesterday and today and keep getting the same message "your payment session has expired. You will have to reenter all your information".
WHAT?????
After the 4th time I reentered my info and got the same message, I said some words I can't repeat here and went into the Paypal website and sent them an email asking for help!!!
Anyone else ever have that problem???
I'm trying to order the Stampers Sidekick and I keep getting the same message there too.
Paypal is their "Secure Payment Server" too!
TIA<
Amie

OK-- I just joined 2 days ago. I've wanted to join for a while now, but my husband got laid off over christmas. He got a job recently and we got a tax return. Before I paid for any other magazine subscription, I donated. Not really because of the Dirty Dozen, although they are excellent. But because I KNOW that it isn't cheap to run a site of this magnatude. Also I really appreciate the spirit of sharing on this site. So many sites have size limits to their uploads (which means I have to figure out how to reduce the size of the file.... UHG) and limits to how many you can share, etc. These guys are so generous.
Anyway, I am getting to a point. I realized when going through the Dirty Dozen yesterday night after finally joining that the quality of samples in this forum are SUPERIOR to any other source I've ever encountered. They are better than stampers showcase (more variety, more complicated techniques samples) they are better than magazines (again more variety, plus interactive so that if you are confused you can ask questions) and better than any class I've ever atteneded. This is the best $20 I've spent in stamping!
If even 1/10 of the people who are registered users would send in a donation, the people running this site would have a serious leg up on how much it costs to runs something like this. Small web sites are cheap to run. Big ones are very expensive.
Step up to the plate and plunk down your $20. It's the best "magazine" you'll every buy.

You are SO right! Where else can we get a constant flow of new ideas, and great friendships, and, and, and........
