No, they are not. I think they're a teeny bit smaller, or was it larger? can't remember.

The Oriental Trading tins are larger around, but the same height as the Provos.

No they are not. They are lighter in weight and have a glossier finish. I have used them and have not been displeased. I also think they may be a bit smaller however they do work as a card file for the 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card.

I thought the OTc tins were bigger, I like them much better than JoAnn's....They also sell the dividers that fit in them and I know they are sort of crunched in my JoAnn's tin(which are provo craft) so that is why I was thinking they were bigger.

Sorry, maybe I was talking about a different tin. I meant the lunchbox type tins instead of "purse" tins. Didn't mean to confuse the issue, just trying to help.

OK, I just mearsured my OT lunch tin. It is 7 inches long by 5 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches deep (up to the rim) 5 inches to the top of the tin (with lid open)

Provo craft are 6 3/4 long by 3 7/8 wide and 4 3/8 deep (to the rim) and 5 inches to the top of the tin (with the lid open)

Hope this helps

I did a lunch box class using Oriental Trading's purse tins. We really liked them. They are larger than the Provo Craft ones. I liked how the handle can "pop" off. It makes it much easier to decorate the top. Also, the width around the tin is just under 24" I think b/c the 12" paper worked great. We just had to cut 2 pieces the right height - but the width was perfect. They do fit the standard cards very nicely.

Thanks for all the info. The main reason I asked was that I just got my acrylic lid template for the provo craft tins and I wanted to know if it would work on the orientl trading tins as well. Anyone know?? Anyone else have the template from www.thecardladies.com???

Thanks Again,
Amy

I have the template and I love it - make it so easy. I was really happy with their service and very fast shipping.

Julie, the handle pops off? How'd you do that? I have several sitting in my closet and would love to be able to pop the handle off.

No, it states on their website that it won't work with the oriental trading tins. Sorry.

Speaking of Oriental Trading tins, has anyone used the Mint tin containers? Are they the same size as an Altoid tin?

no-they aren't! I ordered a package thinking that they were, and they're much larger...well, not much, but larger. I ordered my altoid tins from another source...I can't remember who, but I got it through a link here on SCS. Hope this helps! :-)

Hobby Lobby has tins just like the ones you are looking for. They are $3.99 per tin without s/h. I don't know if they are as strong but look the same.

Hello Ladies,
I bought several of the OT tins and the Hooby Lobby tins.
THe OT ones are great b/c the paper fits perfect w/o patches.I find that the hobby lobby ones are cheaper but I have to piece the paper too much.
Hope this helps.

Janine,
They told me the same thing, but two days after I called, they were in stock. Keep trying, don't give up!

Default provo craft tins at KTcrafts.com

I recently ordered the provo craft tins from KTcrafts.com
There was a special on the website and they ended up being right around 5$ a tin. I liked them better than the oriental trading tins.

Love OT mint tins. They are much bigger than Altoid tins 3 in x 4 1/4 in. The inside note cards I made using 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in cs, folded to 4 1/2 x 2 3/4. You round the corners to fit perfectly inside. See attachment. EdieB :-D
