Page 20 in April SS-"Thinking of you" postage card
im curious how this postage card was done! i know how to get the postage and all that, but how did she get the burgundy around just the edges of the postage stamp where the girl is? it is so pretty and i would love to do this card. also, is it colored in with pencils?
I am not an expert but I am thinking that she stamped the image on a white sheet of paper, chalked it and then mounted it to the postage paper. Just guessing.
I did use metallic pencils to color in the girl. I used a sponge dauber for the shadowing in the postage 'frame' which was the window sheet. I used Eggplant Envy.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your card!!!
I cased it and sent it to several of my friends (I did change it up a bit - horizontal instead of vertical) and they loved it also!!!
You did a GREAT job with that card.
I did have a hard time just doing the "edges" of the faux postage. You have a good bit of highlight in the middle of each "stamp". Did you do anything special or just a light hand? Mine was more "filled in" than I wanted it to be.

elizabeth - I can't remember what it was that got that shading so good, perhaps I used the chalks and forgot to list that!! I do remember I used a light touch
If you all make some Faux Postage cards, please come a post a link in this Technique Lovers Challenge thread....we would love to see them! Donna, you did such a awesome job with your card...it is truly a work of art!
I have to tell you that I was so inspired by your card in SS, that I made a whole series of postage stamp cards with that set. I also used the sponge dauber and a light touch. Wow! What a great effect, and what a great idea to use that set for postage stamp cards. I'll have to post mine when they're all done, but my template ripped and I used my last scrap of window sheet!! Have to order some more - regular transparencies are too thin.
