Hello. My husband says I am too negatie about everything, but..............I am so tired of seeing the Papercrafts magazine on the shelf weeks before mine comes in the mail. I usually end up buying it after a couple of weeks of seeing it thinking that my subscription has expired. Then (today) it comes in the mail and I want to jump up and down and spit!
I am going to try and send an email to customer service. I know that you save a little money by subscribing, but I think you should get it first as a subscription benefit too!
Thanks for letting me vent, how many others have a problem with it?
You know that happens to me and I am tempted to buy it and have to wait. I thought people with subscriptions were suppose to get theirs first. What's the point....
I have to agree with you. I thought that one of the benefits of subscribing was that you received it before the newstands, but apparently not with this publication. I know that I read of someone else who often ends up purchasing it before it arrives because she can't wait to see the goodies inside. I'm still waiting for mine. Perhaps it will arrive today.
I had this same issue. I emailed the people at Paper Crafts magazine. I was told that the benefit was a lower price, but they could not guarentee that we would get the magazine before it came out on the newstand. I was a little annoyed with that answer.
I just got my first copy, and yes I got a bill first. Thought I had somehow missed the magazine in the mail, or DH got to it first???? Well, it jsut arrived, guess I am just happy that it came. I'll pay the bill cause it is a better deal than the newstand price.....oh-well Some companies better than others!!
I bought my copy LAST WEEK! I am still waiting for my subscription copy to show up. I am actually going to call today and cancel my subscription and ask for a refund because I have been subscribed for 4 months, and had to call 3 of those months looking for my magazine after it has been on the newsstand for 3 weeks.
I share your irritation. I always believed that a subscription gets to you way before the magazine is available on the newsstand. I CALLED their customer service and the rep kind of "blew me off." Perhaps us SCS should band together and email and call at the same time.
Part of the problem may be your post office. Magazines are not considered a high priority item, and for the lower rate the publisher gets for bulk mailing they have to agree to have it shunted off to the side on higher mail volume days so that it can sit in the post office for a week or more waiting to be delivered!
I feel so bad for you! I got my magazine 2 weeks ago. OMG, I couldn't stand it if the store copy came before I got it...
Do you suppose it has something to do with location? I'm in MN.
Carol
This is interesting because I got mine yesterday, but the November one is still on store shelves. Funnier is they also sent me November's issue which I bought a month ago. I'm calling instead of emailing. I don't want November to be considered one of my 8 issues.
I'm glad to hear it is not only me. IMHO it is a bad way to do business. All of my other subscriptions get here long before they hit the shelves. I got the bill quite a while ago but no magazine as of yet.

Isn't this a fairly new publication? I tried to subscribe around last Feb. or March when I first became aware of the mag., and after sending in all my subscription paperwork, I never got the mag. - same thing happened to a friend. I don't think they have the kinks worked out yet! I've just given up on subscribing and buy it when I see it at the store - guess I'm glad now I don't have a subscription.
In response to the earlier reply from Jan Tink that magazines are considered the same as bulk mail, this is an incorrect assumption. Magazines are acturally sent out at a publishers rate and not at a bulk mail rate and they have to be delivered the same day they arrive at the post office along with the first class mail. I worked for the postal service for almost 30 years before recently retiring and magazines were always delivered the day they came in. I subscribed to this magazine in October and received my first issue in Nov. which was one that I had bought on the newstand. I just called them and told them the situation and they extended my subscription by a month.
I recently subscribed also. I got the bill last week and am still waiting for the first issue. I'm not a patient person! I think I'll just write "cancel" on the bill and buy it at Walmart!
This has bothered me too, and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought this was weird. I have seen issues on the stands for a week or two before I get mine.
I think if we email or call, and enough people make the same complaint maybe they can change their mailing dates.

I think you might have subscribed to "Stamp It". There was a bunch of us who did that. I finally called them and they said they decided not to do a subscription because there wasn't enough interest.
If you sent money in they were returning it early this month or last.
Also, does anyone have a number for Paper Crafts? I searchedl all the pages on the site to contact them about another matter and never found one.
Finally had to just email them. So now I wait for answer. I hate that because I want things taken care of instantly when it is on my mind.
I am doing the same thing Kar is! I have emailed them each time a new issue came out and I could go buy it WEEKS before I got mine. I usually buy it then give the extra issue to one of my downline.

This actually happens with almost all magazines I receive. It's rather frustrating but I did get a really good subscription rate and will not cancel. I'm not one for waiting but I will not purchase another one at probably double what I paid for the subscription. I'm thinking if this is the worst thing that is happening in my life...I've got it good! ~Lorie
I had the SAME EXACT problems w/ Paper Craft that ALL of you have said. It hasn't even been a year & they keep sending me bogus late payment notices that are really re-subscribe for a yr or 2. When I first subscribed I thought maybe I just didn't do it right so I started buying at the news stand & then like 3 months came within 6 wks, ones I had already bought. I just got mine yesterday & it's been on the shelf forever. I wanted to buy it soooooo bad. I will NOT resubscribe. I don't care if they are new....I hate those fake out invoices.
I, like HB am in MN, and received mine a week ago. I have yet to see it on the shelves at most places. I don't know if it's a location problem, or what. I'm happy with my subscription. I haven't had problems yet. Just my 2 cents.

I had a subscription to Paper Crafts like most of you and called to cancel it after 2 months because I never got it. Instead of cancelling me out they just sent me the two they never sent before (as if to catch me up, but I had already purchased them at the newsstand). After 4 or 5 phone calls I finally got it settled.
If they can't handle a quality subscription service, they shouldn't offer it.
My $0.02.
Thanks for listening to the vent,
Kelly
P.S.: It sure is nice, though, knowing it wasn't just me....
I recently subscribed and received my bill in the mail - I then called them and paid via phone with a credit card and received the Nov and Dec/Jan issues yesterday. I like it better when it comes to me cuz I don't always get to the store that often to buy them there.

Here is the customer service information, it is funny to see this forum since I just went to this site to see if I had really renewed or not, I did so on 10/1 and my Dec /Jan issue had a rush renewal card on it.
I don't mind getting the magazine late, I just wish they had more stuff in it that I would use. But, I share it with a few friends and we all get something from it. Who gets to search for magazines at the store when you have a 2 year old in the cart. If it does not have wheels he does not want it.

I have the same problem with Rubber Stamper. Drives me nuts seeing it on the shelf first.
I must say, however, that any magazine I've ever subscribed to has always managed to get the bill to me way before the first issue arrives! I just ignore the bill untill I see a magazine show up! Particularly when it's one of those 'free trial issue' offers!

you might as well throw it away!
i hate that mine is always late too! but if i didnt subscribe to it i probably would not get it i live in a rural area and walmart sells out too fast ! i would have to drive an hour to get one from a craft store! even if i watch for it every day! so i have to put up with it!
I too get all my mags late. I think it is b/c I am in Alaska and on an island. I won't cancel my subs b/c #1. I refuse to pay shipping on a mag that I buy in the store, #2. You never know if you will get to purchase a stamping or scrapping mag in this town, #3. it is sooooooo much cheaper.

Uh oh! I signed up for a subscription (and paid for it!) at the papercrafts expo in San Antonio at the beginning of October. After reading all of these posts, I started to get worried - I haven't seen a magazine yet! I called customer service and they said that those expo orders can take up to 90 days to get processed, so I may not get a magazine until the beginning of next year! He told me to hang on to my receipt, just in case. Grrrr.......
Unfortunately NOT! This magazine has been around for ages. It was called Crafts. They realized that paper crafting was hot and would get more advertising dollars so they re-named/re-launched it! They are using the same infrastructure, just changed design teams etc.,. Too bad they didn't make any improvements to the infrastucture!
I work for a publishing company and as long as our magazines are mailed on or before the last day of the month, they're not considered late. Sometimes it's 2 1/2 months between magazines, but it's not late until it becomes a new month. Also we publish about 70 magazines so we don't work on each book every day and that causes a delay in processing payments. I'm sure whoever publishes Paper Crafts has more than one magazine as well.
