Red face Pastels and scrapbooking

Hey, guys! I don't scrapbook much, and was wondering if I used Pastels and versamark on a page, would it damage the photos?

Default Hey, there!

Sheraldine:

*GREAT* photo in your Avatar...now I've *GOT* to meet you!!!! Consider going to Connie Tomsky's Chicago Area Mini Convention on 09/17 - it doesn't seem from your location that you're too far...I can tell from your photo that you're a bit of a cheeseball and we'd have a *BLAST* together!!!! If you're interested, hurry - she's almost out of room! Her SCS handle is gingerpuff, I think!

To answer your question: It's *totally* safe - both of them are acid free which means they're photo safe. If you *really* want your pastels to pop, however, try this: use White Craft Ink instead for the Poppin' Pastels technique - you can even do it on dark shades of c/s!! I think it works *much* better than versamark but I don't know how or why.

Just to be sure that it won't flake off though, I *do* like to seal the work with a thin coating of spray-on Gum Arabic solution (1 parts *liquid* Gum Arabic, 4 parts water, 2 parts alcohol -- some people use rubbing alcohol, I use White Brandy or Vodka.) You can find Gum Arabic at Hobby Lobby (maybe even Michaels - but I got mine at H.L.) in the "Fine Art" section...but don't expect anyone who works there to be of any significant help. Just keep searching in all of the "potions" until you find it. Should be with the gesso, linseed oil, masking fluid, etc.

Good luck!! ~ Kaylyn
