Default Plaid

I never even noticed these. I just took a look at the catalog, I think these will be added to my next order. I LOVE Plaids. I'm so glad you brought up this question!

The plaid maker is essential a set of two stencils. So you need to make sure when you get it that you order a foam brayer insert or some sponges to use with it...wouldn't want you to get frustrated!

I had thought about getting this, but was concerned I wouldn't know what to do with it. Does it come with instructions? Also, it was mentioned that I would need a brayer or something else to make it work. Can someone give more detail?

Thanks,
Angie

Default Plaid question

I love my plaid maker.

There are 2 diferent ways that I have used mine.

The first and easiest is to use a foam brayer. I put the stencil (for the lighter ink color) over my paper. I then use my brayer (ink it up) and roll over my stencil. I then let it dry (not long maybe 1 minute) rotate your paper 90 degrees and put the other stencil over the paper (for the darker ink color). I then bray this color over the stencil. (Of course I have washed my brayer in between). I usually do 1 full page at a time. I have done this for graduation invitations and it didn't take too long to do 12 sheets. I have the small plaid maker so I have even used 4 colors and just colored in every other line. If you choose to do this you might want to do it this way.

Instead of braying the ink over the stencil, I have used a sponge. It is a little messier but I am able to get more colors in my plaid. When I do this way I sometimes only do as little as a quarter of a piece of cardstock.

I just wash my stencil with water and all colors (except black wash right off). The black will stain your stencil but after it is dry it will not transfer the black to your paper.

I've used the sponge daubers with the plaid maker. It seems to go faster than the sponges. I keep saying I'm going to buy the foam brayer attachment, but when it comes time to order I always end up taking it off since I have other things to use with the plaid maker. I figure eventually that will be the only thing I don't have
