I am doing a WS for an avid scrapbooker next month. I wanted to impress her by demoing this 6x6 layout. I was inspired by pics she showed me of her tots finger painting. The pix are cute because they have paint everywhere and all over their faces.
My question to you all is is this layout TOO busy? DH says it's too overwhelming. What do you think? If it's too busy how would you change it?
I am an avid scrapper as well and I do not think it is too busy at all! You should see some of the pages in CK that they do and you would not even think yours was busy. Your friend will be pleased w/these pages I am sure.

Oh no, not too busy! It's a great setting for the little ones' finger painting pics! Your hostess will be wowed with your faux page pebbles as well as the layout!
I like these - don't think they're too busy. If the colors coordinate and/or complement the photos, the pages should be awesome.
Doesn't your husband know his comments are supposed to be limited to "Honey, that's wonderful!" ?
I agree with everybody else. I think it is a really great layout. The bold colors are great if the kids were painting in primary colors. It would be a good base to show how to build a page from 6 X 6 all the way to 12 X 12 also.

I've already sent you a pm, but here's the post for everyone to see.
The only thing I think I would change is the second page. I'd make the blue cs the same size/shape as on the first page. This will help balance the pages.
While I don't agree with SU! on some of the things in the Jan. SS, I do agree with some of it. (I am an avid scrapbooker/scrapbookologist- my own made up term.)

I like it too, I also usually try to make the facing pages the same when using both pages as a layout. It just gives a "cleaner" look to it. Of course I only do 12x12 and have never ventured to doing 6x6 yet, but that is just my opinion.
I have to say that I LIKE IT! You are showing her layering, the use of stamps (which many scrappers are nervous about) in her scrapbook and the alpha-stamps. I say go for it!
I don't think it will be overwhelming once the pictures are mounted. The pink or red color is too sharp for me as it is, but once you put on pictures, they'll help make the photos pop.

Thank you all for your input! Wow there were 500+ views on the layout! I always get a little intimidated by avid Scrapbookers because I'm more of a card kinda stamper.
Sometimes I forget that DH is color blind...literally! He doesn't always see things the way I do. Why, oh,why do I ask his opinion?!?
Thanks so much for all your helpful suggestions. I think I will try to balance the pages better by cutting the yoyo yellow the same sizes since the the brilliant blue is the 6x6 base. How does that sound, Mary?
That sounds good. I thought the blue was the layered portion.
I forgot to mention: the colors are great for catching their attention.
Don't listen to your husband(especially with him being colorblind)- that's what we are all here for.
Also, I am not an expert but do study quiet a bit-scrapbooking is my passion (I'd show more samples, but they have become the property of SU!, my understanding, once I submit them. The two times I didn't win the contest, I knew why after looking at the scanned image- right after mailing.Arghhh!).
