I am so envious of those of you that know your UPS man. I wish I knew my Mr. Brown. Daughter was home alone the other day and by the window. She knows that she is not to answer the door for anyone when she is home alone. Brown pulls up rings the bell and she runs behind the front door. Brown says (to his cell phone) "I must not be welcome at this house". Poor DD was very upset and said "momma he was a African American do you think he thinks I am prejudice since I never answer the door?" I felt so bad for her. Good that she is alert enough to be PC though! I WANNA BE AMONG THE MR. BROWN FAN CLUB! BOO HOO SOB SOB.

 Oh no!! He should know what if it's a Stampin' Up! box, then it's welcome!!
Poor DD!! We used to do the same thing, and I am training my kids to NOT go to the door when somebody knocks or rings the bell. I'm always with them, but it's better to be safe!
Good for you gals!!! I can't remember who or where but recently on the news there was a man who as a child answered the door and let in one of the awful serial killers..who killed his mother....he looks so destroyed and haunted! What a horrible thing to have to have happened and have to live with.
Your DD should be really proud of herself....and it has nothing to do with who knocked....just what was right for her and you!

At least we wouldn't have to worry about your girls. DD would scare Brown off with her black teeth and skin. Poor guy would think she was an alien. hehehe Did her skin come clean yet?

Maybe I will put a note and a suprise on the front porch for Brown with my next order.

Yep, we are the same here! We never never answer the door unless we know who it is. You just can't be too careful. Don't feel bad, I don't know my Mr. Brown either--it's never the same one twice!
I have never had to sign for a Stampin Up! package!! I don't know my Mr. Brown, and we have had a few but they never make me sign. They leave it on the door step and ring the bell as they are walking away. If the garage door is open they leave it next to the inside garage door. I guess I am lucky because it never fails, I am most of the time not home when he gets here!!

Have you ever had to hunt for it?
One of my Mr. Brown's used to leave it at the front door and put the doormat on top of it. :? What's that about? It's not like it was hidden or gonna keep it weighted down--the box was always bigger than the doormat. Gave me a good laugh though.

It was the BTK killer in Witchita Kansas. The boy was 5 at the time and his mom was laying down with a cold. He let the killer in and his mom was killed. He is a mess now - I saw that interview. Good for you not letting the kids open the door. Better safe than sorry. He probably just didn't know it was just a child home.
My Mr. Brown is a hottie too! And he is so nice. He will leave my boxes by my door if I'm not home and if it is the slightest bit cloudy out, he wraps it in plastic just in case. Here is a brown story: I am getting gas the next town over, the brown truck drives by and sees me pumping gas, does a u-turn, comes back to the gas station, and pulls my box from the truck and walks it over to me to hand deliver it, before driving off again. I think this may be an indicator that I order too much stamping materials. My husband just shook his head amazed. Actually, most of the stuff he delivers is from amazon- I hit all the great sales there and with their free shipping deals, I am able to get all my kids Christmas presents for dirt cheap. I think I did Christmas last year (5kids) for about $150.00 for all of them.

Reason: typo
I have neve had to hunt for it but if he puts it in the garage he does not ring the doorbell. It has taken me a long time to realize it is there if I do not go anywhere. One day I did call UPS becuase they said it was delivered and I did not see it at the door ~ it was in the garage!!!
Mine is too! His name is Jimmy...DH and I know him well - well I know him better  We even have his cell phone - gave it to us in case we ever expect a shipment of electronics so he can arrange his delivery when I'm home.
At Christmas, gave him the cute Christmas Fudge poem - he was nearly moved to tears! I even got a hug from him (he was training another Brown driver too, bet he was thinking man, Jimmy's got the hook up...the trainee was cute too).
Didn't see him for a while, until last week I was out watering the plants and it was already dark. I was expecting a delivery - he parked in the middle of the street and spent a few minutes chatting. Turned out his father was buried the day before and he shared about his death. I felt so bad. First thing he did say was, haven't seen you in a while! I think next time I expect a delivery, I need to leave a note on the door to make his day! ugh - wish I'd have thought about that sooner - he came today while I was at work! duh

She did come clean. She has a a few spots still on her legs.
I like to give my Mr. Brown a nice cold drink (left in a cooler). He seems to appreciate it a lot. He leaves my box at my step when I am not home & covers the box if it is going to rain too...
I am laughing at the lady who had a box hand delivered at the gas station.

My UPS driver is probably the only person who comes to the door that can read! I have 2 neurotic dogs that if they sense someone is in the yard they bark like maniacs. Well, since the UPS guy always comes during the kids' nap (a.k.a my stamping time) - the barking is less than appreciated. So he's read my little note that says not to knock in the afternoon because of the dogs/kids, etc. and he is so quiet now I swear he coasts the truck into the driveway and tiptoes onto the porch because I can be on the other side of the door and I don't even hear him. He's awesome - probably twice my age and smokes cigars in the truck, but awesome!
Donna- I have seen Loads of Love turned into a UPS truck as a thank you card for Mr. Brown. But I have never heard of this poem. Would you be willing to post it or pm it to me?
Brenda
It is great that you have good UPS guys.....you could have our lady....
To say that she is a slug is a gross understatement. We are in a remote area, and the independant contractor that UPS hired is.....at the shallow end of the gene pool......let me give you an example....
Most often, our stuff flies up here from the closest major centre. Once it arrives here, if we get it within the next 5 days!!??!! we are doing well. It is so frustrating to know that my stuff is sitting in a warehouse somewhere, and not getting delivered. Especially when I NEED stuff for stamp camps, etc.
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!
So.....if you have GOOD UPS drivers.....give them love for me....
I love my man in brown!! He is such a sweetie, looks like Tom Selleck, not too shabby! he knows I do daycare and he just comes in rarely knocks anymore, yells for me and asks what the kids are getting for lunch. He is a sweetie, I sure miss him when he is on vacation, he comes early in the afternoon (usally by noon) and the others don't come till between 5-6. He will even tease me if I don't get enough orders in a week, tells me that I'm slacking. I don't want to trade him, nope, he is mine!!
You definetly cannot have my guy! He is tall dark and very VERY handsome! For awhile I was disabled and couldn't do very much at all (I lived right next door to my parents then moved back with them when I got sick. I am STILL here 4 years later! lol) He would stop by if he was making a delivery in the neighborhood and see if I needed anything! *UGH* I was at my worst and he got better and better! lol You don't get any better than that!

That's so funny, and so nice of your Mr. Brown. A Mr. Brown lives around the corner. He comes home for lunch each day. When I am waiting on a package it makes me crazy to see that truck with a blinker on, slow, then go right by my driveway as he turns the corner. Sigh.
I would love to see the card with Loads of Love turned into a UPS truck. My husband works for UPS. I would love to make him a similar card. I get such a kick out of all these stories. My hubby works in the marketing dept. and I think they should make a commercial with all of you.

Speaking of having to "hunt" for your package. When I was a CM consultant, I was expecting a huge order. When I got home from work I was a little worried when it wasn't there yet. I thought maybe he was running late. I went on their website to check the tracking status and it said it was delivered! We have a long dirt driveway and it was a lovely spring day in Michigan (which means mud!). I went back down the driveway with my girls looking on both sides of the driveway. Finally, my oldest says, "I wonder if he put in in the trash can?" (It was also trash day and we have a big cart that our trash goes in). I looked in there just to pacify her and lo and behold, there were my two huge boxes of CM. . . in my trash can!  I guess Mr Brown was worried that he would get stuck in the driveway, but geez, how was I supposed to know he delivered it to the trash can! I was very happy that my daughter suggested looking in there
